ECKHART — Angela Gertrude Scarpelli, 73, of 17211 Beecher’s Avenue, died Tuesday at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born Feb. 17, 1923 at Frostburg, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Fanny (McKenzie) Minnick. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Scarpelli. Mrs. Scarpelli was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Surviving are one son, Gerald Scarpelli and wife Ann, Frostburg; one daughter, Marlene Broadwater and husband Robert, Mount Savage; three brothers, Lawrence Minnick and Allen Minnick, both Frostburg, and Eugene Minnick, Ohio; one sister, Helen Brode, Grahamtown; six grandchildren, Jeri L. Robertson, Eckhart, Richard T. Scarpelli, Deep Creek, Kevin C. Wright, Mount Savage, Kari A. Gomer, Frostburg, and Keith and Kelly Miller, West Virginia; four great-grandchildren, Justin L. Tippen, P.J. Tippen, Jason T. Tippen, all of Eckhart, and C. J. Gomer, Frostburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, Wednesday. There will be no visitation on Thanksgiving Day. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Michael’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Byrnes as celebrant. Frances (Fannie) MCKENZIE (Jacob Patrick-2, Samuel J.-1) was born in 1884 in Garrett Co., Maryland. She died on 8 May 1964 in Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland. FROSTBURG — Mrs. Frances Minnick, 79, widow of Joseph Minnick, died this morning in Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, where she was admitted yesterday. Born in Garrett County, a daughter of the late Jacob and Fannie (Christner) McKenzie, she was the last surviving member of that family. Mrs. Minnick was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Surviving are three sons, Marion, Allen and Lawrence Minnick, all of Frostburg; five daughters, Mrs. James Hickman, Akron; Mrs. Harry Hotchkiss, Ridgeley; Mrs. Raymond Brode and Mrs. Thomas Scarpelli, both of Eckhart, and Mrs. Raymond Wempe, Cumberland, 21 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. 394vii.Patrick Jacob MCKENZIE was born on 19 Sep 1880 in Johnson, Garrett Co., Maryland. He died on 13 Dec 1961 in Frostburg, Allegany Co., Maryland. Frostburg - Patrick McKenzie, 81, of Sand Spring, died this morning in Miners Hospital where he was admitted last night. He was a son of the late Jacob and Fanny (Christner) McKenzie. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Frances Minnick, Vale Summit, and a number of nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Ernest Femi, with whom he resided. The body is at the Hafer Funeral Home where friends will be received tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The rosary will be recited tomorrow at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A requiem mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church and interment will be in St. Anne's Cemetery, Avilton. The Cumberland Evening Times, December 14, 1961

McKenzie, a worthy lady of Frostburg, has been granted a pension of $12 a month from January 30 last, as the widow of Jacob P. McKenzie, a soldier of the 2nd Maryland Regiment in the Civil War. Her certificate is No. 743,245. This shows the whole number of pensions granted to widows to date. Mr. Jacob Brown, of this city, was the attorney in the case. Frostburg – July 9 – Mrs. Fannie A. McKenzie, widow of the late Jacob McKenzie, died Sunday evening at her home here. She was in her eighty-eighth year. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:30 AM at St. Michael’s Church. Burial will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Avilton. Mrs. McKenzie leaves the following children: Mrs. Joseph Welsh, Mrs. Robert Minnick, Mrs. Joseph Minnick, John and Patrick McKenzie of this city, Richard McKenzie, Garrett County, Mrs. Oscar McKenzie, Grantsville.
