Clarence L. Lavin, 66, of 123 Polk Street, died yesterday at his home after a long illness. Born at Hoffman, he was a son of the late Michael and Rose A. (Folk) Lavin. Mr. Lavin was a veteran of World War II and retired in 1966 after 42 years of service to the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and the Holy Name Society. His wife, Eleanor E. (Gerkins) Lavin, preceded him in death. Surviving are two sisters, Miss Edith Lavin and Mrs. Sadie Smith, both of Frostburg, and several nieces and nephews. The body is at the George Funeral Home where friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A requiem mass will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, and burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. A Christian wake service will be held today at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. FROSTBURG — Michael Lavin, 75, Hoffman, a retired coal miner, died last night in Miners Hospital here where he had been a patient for one day. Death was attributed to asthma and a heart condition. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church here. Surviving are the following children, Clarence Lavin, Cumberland; Mrs. Eugene Smith; Earl, Vincent, and Edward Lavin, all of Frostburg; Bernard and Edith Lavin, at home; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Wintermyer, LaVale. Frostburg, Sept. 9 — Mrs. Rose (Folk) Lavin, 67, wife of Michael Lavin, Hoffman, died this morning following a paralytic stroke. A member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Mrs. Eugene Smith, this city, and Miss Edith Lavin, at home, and five sons, Clarence, Cumberland; Earl, Eckhart; Bernard, at home; and Edward and Vincent, Frostburg.
