    Will of John Wiggins: Martin Co., NC ~ In the name of God Amen, I JOHN Wiggins of the county of Martin in the state of North Carolina being of sound & perfect mind & memory thanks be to God but calling to mind the mortality of mankind and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die do make ordain constitute and appoint this my Last Will and Testament in manner & form Following To Wit ~
    First I give and bequeath to my wife ELIZABETH Wiggins her heirs and assigns one horse called Blaise and her bridle & saddle. I also give to my wife ELIZ Wiggins two feather beds and the Furniture belonging to them to her & her heirs or assigns. I also give to my said one two cows & calves & one
    young steer and one Pine Chest one Woolen Wheel four flag chairs one sett of Tea Ware and ovel Table. I also give to my said wife the one half of all my Hoggs young & old to her and her heirs and assigns. I also give my said wife all the household furniture of every kind whatsoever that belonged to her before I married her.
    Item, I give and bequeath to my son LEMUEL Wiggins my horse named Dolphin the said LEMUEL Wiggins paying to my son WILLIAM Wiggins five pounds specie. I give to my son LEMUEL one dark walnut bedstead.
    Item, I give and bequeath to my son B. Baker Wiggins one silver hilted sword & money scales.
    Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter ELIZABETH Jones five silver Dollars to be equally divided bet her five children.
    Item, I give and bequeath the remainder of my whole estate of every kind whatsoever that is not herein before mentioned or given in legacies to be equally divided bet my two sons LEMUEL Wiggins and B. Baker Wiggins and their heirs or assigns share & share alike.
    Item, Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my two sons LEMUEL and BLAKE Baker Wiggins executors to this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking & disannulling all other wills by me heretofore by me made.

    "He was an Englishman who came over and settled on the Roanoke Rive in Martin Co. about 50 years before the Revolution. He was a very land conscious landlord running from Enfield to Hamilton. His mother was a Stuart. His wife was Miss Baker."
