Robert Laughlin CROWE (son of Henry CROWE and Hariette DURST) was born on 21 Mar 1868 in Maryland. He died on 2 Jun 1942 in New Germany, Garrett Co., Maryland. Grantsville, Md, June 4 — Robert L. Crowe, retired farmer, died Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Michael, Avilton, where he had been ill for the past six weeks. Mr. Crowe was the son of the late Henry and Harriet Durst Crowe and a native of Garrett county. Surviving besides Mrs. Michael, are another daughter, Mrs. Charles Durst, of Long Stretch, and a brother, George Crowe, Avilton. Funeral services will be held at the New Germany Methodist Church tomorrow by the Rev. Virgil R. Gillum. The Cumberland Evening Times, June 4, 1942 He was buried in Twin Churches Cemetery, Garrett Co., Maryland.

Ellen WARNE (Daniel William-1) was born on 27 Feb 1879 in Frostburg, Allegany Co., Maryland. She died on 1 Jan 1942 in Avilton, Garrett Co., Maryland. Mrs. Ellen Crowe, 62, wife of Robert Crowe, died at her home at Avilton, Md., about 5 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Jan. 1, after a lingering illness. She was born at Frostburg, Feb. 27, 1879, daughter of Daniel W. and Margaret Warne. Practically all of her life had been spent in this section and for many years she had resided in the Avilton community. Surviving, besides her husband, are two daughters, Mrs. Henry Michael, Grantsville, and Mrs. Ora Durst, Avilton, one grandchild; and five brothers, Salem Y. Warne and Jabez W. Warne, Cleveland, O.; Stanley Warne, Frostburg, Wilbur Warne, Avilton, and Charles Warne, Grantsville. Mrs. Crowe had been a member of the New Germany Methodist Church for 44 years. Funeral services were conducted in the church at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon by her pastor, Rev. Virgil R. Gillum. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery under the supervision of William Winterberg, Grantsville mortician. Pallbearers were Orville G. Stark, Herman H. Robeson, Otha S. Fike, William B. Garlitz, Raymond Broadwater and E. Q. Michaels. Meyersdale Republican, January 8, 1942.

Henry + Hariette Durst. Hariette (daughter of Daniel Durst and Eliza Compton) was born on 17 Sep 1827 in Maryland; died on 12 Apr 1898 in Garrett County, Maryland. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

Mrs. Harriet Crowe, an aged and most respected lady, residing near New Germany, departed this life April 12, 1898. She had been an earnest, faithful member and worker in the M. E. Church for many years. She was familiarly known as "Aunt Harriet" and was loved and respected by everyone who knew her. She often remarked to her family she was ready to die. She was an inspiration not only to her own family but to all with whom she came in contact. While she is dead she yet speaketh. The Republican, Ruth Enlow Library, Garrett County

She was buried in Blocher Cemetery, Garrett Co., Maryland.
