MOUNT Savage — Irvin P. Lavin, 72, of Mount Savage, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born Jan. 2, 1940 in Mount Savage, to Aden J. Lavin and Fannie Chisholm. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty O’Neal; two brothers, Aden “Sonny” Lavin and Jerry Francis Lavin; and a special nephew, Jeffrey David Lavin. Mr. Lavin was retired from Kelly Springfield as Manager of Food Services and as a driver for Queen City Electric. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves; and a member of Mount Savage Volunteer Fire Company for 17 years. Irvin in his younger days enjoyed riding dirt bikes and motorcycles, and enjoyed spending time with family. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Sandra (Clark) Lavin; daughter, Cindy McDonald and husband Robert, LaVale; son, Randy Lavin, Ellerslie and Jason Robison, Mount Savage, whom he thought of as his son; two granddaughters, Kristi Lavin and Amanda McDonald; one grandson, Brandon Lavin; a brother-in-law, Dale Clark, Mount Savage; three siblings, Wilbert “Snoots” Lavin and wife Audrey, Mount Savage, Peggy Beal and husband Donald, Frostburg, Barry Lavin and wife Josie, LaVale; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received at Durst Funeral Home P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. MT. SAVAGE — Aden Joseph Lavin, 60, who formerly operated Lavin's Tavern here, died Friday in the Western Maryland State Hospital, Hagerstown, where he had been a patient two years. A native of Eckhart, he was a son of the late John and Rebecca (Folk) Lavin, and the husband of Mrs. Fannie (Chisholm) Lavin. Mr. Lavin was a member of the Mt. Savage Volunteer Fire Company. Besides his wife, he is survived by five sons, Aden E. Lavin, Arlington, Va.; Francis J. Lavin, Cleveland, Ohio; Wilbert G., Irvin P., and David D., all at home; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond O'Neal, of here; Mrs. Donald Beal, of Washington, Pa.; two brothers, George Lavin, Eckhart; Leo Lavin, Frostburg; three sisters, Mrs. John Robinson, Cleveland; Mrs. John Klosterman and Mrs. Hilary Lancaster, both of Eckhart; and four grandchildren. The body is at the Silcox Funeral Residence. Services will be conducted at the funeral home tomorrow at 2 p. m. by Rev. Michael Smyth, pastor of St. Patrick's Church of Mt. Savage. She died on 24 Mar 1929 in Eckhart, Allegany Co., Maryland. Frostburg, Md., March 25 - Mrs. Rebecca Lavin, aged 70, Eckhart, was found dead in bed Sunday morning by her son, William Lavin. Mrs. Lavin had a paralytic stroke about two years ago. The following children survive: Mrs. Frank Klosterman,Mrs. James Smith, Mrs. John Gaskill, William, George and Deek Lavin, Eckhart and John Lavin, Baltimore. Mrs. Rebecca Lavin Has Large Funeral Frostburg, March 28 - Funeral services for Mrs. Rebecca Lavin, aged 70, found dead in bed at her home in Eckhart, last Sunday morning, by her son, William Lavin, were held from Saint Michael's Catholic Church Wednesday morning. Requiem high mass was celebrated by the Rev. Gerald J. Finan, assistant pastor, who also gave the funeral discourse. Mrs. Lavin had been ill for about two years following a paralytic stroke. The funeral was largely attended. Burial was in Saint Michael's Cemetery. The flower bearers were: Paul Niner, Joseph Condry, Michael Sullivan and Leroy Michaels. Ann M. or Mary Ann PORTER was born on 4 Sep 1846. She was baptized on 23 Feb 1867 in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg, Allegany Co., Maryland. Mary Ann probably died shortly after she gave birth to George William Folk-Beal in 1876, as he was 4 in the 1880 census. She died about 1876.
