CUMBERLAND — Melba Eilene (McClellan) Herath, 94, of Cumberland, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born March 9, 1925, in Ridgeley, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert E. McClellan Sr. and Ethel (McKenzie) McClellan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter W. Herath; two sons, Alvin and Walter A. Herath; and ten brothers and sisters. A homemaker, Melba was employed at Celanese Fibers Corporation of America, Morin's Groceries, McIntyre's Market, and as a home health aide for the Allegany County Health Department. She is survived by her daughter, Randa Murray; sons, John and Gene Herath; sister, JoAnn Eror; grandsons, Walter, David, and Zep Murray, and Christopher Herath; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Robert E. MCCLELLAN was born about 1890 in Keyser, Mineral Co., West Virginia. He died on 29 Aug 1974 in Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland. Robert E. McClellan, Sr., 84, who resided at Queen City Towers, died yesterday at Sacred Heart Hospital, where he had been a patient two weeks. Born near Keyser, he was a son of the late James B. and Ida (Baker) McClellan. Mr. McClellan was a former employe of the Western Maryland Railway and was a retired employe of Jellep's Department Store. He was a member of the Senior Citizens. Surviving are his widow, Ethel M. (McKenzie) McClellan; three sons, Robert E., Jr., city; Ferman, Huntington Beach, Calif., and James McClellan, Rockville; eight daughters, Mrs. Marie Davis, Mrs. Melba Herath and Mrs. Dorothy Williams, all of Cumberland; Mrs. Velma Bowman, Mrs. Mae Boggs, and Mrs. JoAnn Eror, all of Cresaptown; Mrs. Betty Huff, LaVale, and Mrs. Rosalie Fleegle, Rockville; a sister, Mrs. Thelma Gardner, city; 28 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The body is at the Silcox-Merritt Funeral Residence, where friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted there tomorrow at 1 p.m. by John C. Mrs. Ethel M. McClellan, 89, of 11 West Elton Drive, Cresaptown, died Wednesday at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born in Lonaconing, she was a daughter of the late Taylor McKenzie and Annie (Cecil) McKenzie. Her husband, Robert E. McClellan, preceded her in death in August, 1974. Surviving are a son, Ferman (Bud) McClellan, Vancouver, Wash.; nine daughters, Jo Ann Eror, Cresaptown, with whom she resided; Velma Bowman, also of Cresaptown; Rosalie Fleegle, Gaithersburg; Elwanda Biggs, Louisville, Ky.; Ethel M. Davis, West Palm Beach, Fla.; Mae Boggs, Melba Herath, Dorothy Williams, all of Cumberland, and Betty Huff, LaVale; 27 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted there Saturday at 1:30 p.m. by Delford E. Douglas. Westernport, January 4 — Taylor Johnson McKenzie, 72, retired B. and O. employee, died last night at his home, Green's addition, Westernport. A native of Twenty-first Bridge, W. Va., he was a son of the late Aaron and Margaret (Martin) McKenzie. He was a member of the First Baptist church, Westernport, and Union Council, No. 146, Jr. O. U. A. M. Besides his widow, Mrs. Dorothy (Wright) McKenzie, he is survived by five daughters, Miss Jessie McKenzie, at home; Mrs. Adelia Leatherman, RFD I, Keyser, W. Va.; Mrs. Mary Fertig, McCoole, Md.; Mrs. Byrle Lease, RFD 5, Cumberland; Mrs. Marie McClellan, Allegany Grove; son, Malcolm, Cleveland, O.; three brothers, John, Westernport; Walter, Baltimore: and Edward, Morgantown, W. Buried Methodist Church Cemetery, Cresaptown, Maryland.

Mr. William McKenzie, a well-known resident of Cresaptown, who was paralyzed a few days ago, died this morning at 4 o'clock, aged 68 years. The funeral will take place Sunday morning at 10 o’clock from the M. E. church at that place. Interment will be made in the cemetery connected with the same.
