CUMBERLAND — Paul Ambrose Mullan, 80, of 610 Fairview Ave., Cumberland, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital, surrounded by his beloved family. Born Oct. 17, 1917, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Albert Mullan and the late Josephine (McKenzie) Mullan. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Francis Mullan. Mr. Mullan was retired as the general manager of the Chessie Employees Federal Credit Union in 1982 after 34 years of service. During his life, he gave to others through his involvement with the Dapper Dan organization and the Boy Scouts of America, where he served as District Commissioner for many years and received many awards. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. He also was a member of the Seven Gallon Club of the American Red Cross and a life member of the El-Fidel Club. A veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II, he was a staff sergeant with the 82nd Airborne Division, 504th Parachute Infantry, G Company serving in campaigns in Holland, Anzio and North Africa. He received two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star. Surviving are his wife, Jean (Standish) Mullan, Cumberland; two daughters, Doris Brady, LaVale, and Carol Krimm and husband Alan, Frederick; two sons, Paul B. Mullan and wife Donna, Oakland, and Patrick Mullan, Cumberland; a sister, Hilda Landis, Oldtown; a brother, Thomas Mullan, Cumberland; and 10 grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Friday at 9 a.m. with Father Milton A. Hipsley as celebrant. Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard. Albert B. Mullan – Albert B. Mullan, 78, formerly of 221 Carroll Street, died yesterday at the Thorne Nursing Home, McCoole, where he had been a patient 13 months. A native of Cumberland, he was a son of the late William T. and Anna (Carlos) Mullan. He was formerly a machinist in the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad backshops, retiring in 1954 after 35 years service. He was a member of the IA of M Local 222, SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and was a charter member of the Cardinal Club. Surviving are his wife, M. Josephine (McKenzie) Mullan, also a patient at the nursing home; two sons, Paul A. and Thomas E. Mullan, this city; a daughter, Mrs. Hilda R. Landis, Spring Gap; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body is at the Kight Funeral Homewhere friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. Requiem mass will be celebrated Wednesday 10 a.m. at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Mrs. Margaret Josephine MulIan, 80, died Saturday at Sylvan Retreat where she had been a patient four months. Born in Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late Enoch and Margaret (Rohman) McKenzie and was the widow of Albert B. Mullan. Mrs. Mullan was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Surviving are two sons, Paul A. and Thomas E. Mullan, both of Cumberland; a daughter, Mrs. Hilda Landis, Spring Gap; two brothers, Vincent A. McKenzie, Columbus, Ga., and Enoch E. McKenzie, Trenton, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Marian Will and Mrs. Hilda Mantheiy, both of Cumberland; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The body is at the Kight Funeral Home where friends will be received from 2 to 4 p. m. The rosary will be recited there Tuesday at 8 p. m. Mrs. Enoch A. McKenzie – Mrs. Margaret McKenzie, wife of Enoch A. McKenzie, 223 Carroll Street, died this morning. She is also survived by five daughters and five sons: Mrs. A.B. Mullan, Mrs. J.A. Glick, Misses Marion E., Helen and Hilda; Enoch A., William, Clarence, John and Vincent McKenzie. She leaves also three brothers, John, Nicholas J., and Michael Rohman, and one sister, Mrs. Charles J. Dahl. Interment will be in SS Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. George Henry MCKENZIE was born in 1814. He died on 1 Aug 1872. Samuel Sampson McKenzie's parents were George Henry McKenzie (1814-Aug 1, 1872) son of Josua McKenzie and Elizabeth Winter and Susanna McKenzie (8 Mar 1815 - 19 Mar 1890) daughter of Samuel McKenzie and Rachel Durbin. (but I don't have death notices or obits to prove these. George and Susanna are both buried at St. Patrick'a Cemetery Cumberland. They are third cousins...I think. In the name of God, Amen. I, George McKinzie, of Allegany County in the State of Maryland, being sick and weak in body, but of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, do make, ordayin, publish and declare this my last Will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say:
First and principally, I commit my spirit to the keeping of its Merciful Author & my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my wife, and then I devise and bequeath as follows:

1. To my dear wife, Susanna McKinzie I give and bequeath all my personal estate, subject to the payment of my debts and funeral expenses.

2. To my said wife, Susannah McKinzie, I give and devise all my real estate, wheresoever situate, for and during her natural life and after the death of my said wife, I direct my Executors hereinafter named to sell and dispos of all my said real estate and thin[sic] I give and bequeath the proceeds arising from the sale of sales thereof as follows:

3. To my daughter, Elizabeth, I give sixty dollars.

4. To my daughter, Sarah Ann, I give sixty dollars.

5. To my son, Enoch Ambrose, I give one hundred dollars.

And the residue of such proceeds of sales of my real estate I direct shall be equally divided between all my childred, namely, John W., George H., Joshua F. Samuel S., Nicholas, Joanna, Susannah, Sarah A., Elizabeth, and Enoch A. share and share like[sic]. - Charging my son John W. with the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars and my son Joshua F with the sum of seventy-five dollars, money advanced to my said sons John W. and Josua F.

And lastly, I hereby constitute and appoint Nicholas McKinzie and John B. Widener, Executors of this my last will and testament revoking and annulling former will by me heretofore made, ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last will and testament
