January 05, 2009, Cumberland Times-News ~ FROSTBURG — Wesley E. “Wes” Lashbaugh, 67, of Frostburg (Long Stretch), died Jan. 4, 2009 at the WMHS-Braddock Campus after a courageous battle with cancer. Born April 7, 1941 in Frostburg, Wes was the son of the late William F. Lashbaugh Sr. and Mary A. (Sweene) Lashbaugh. He was also preceded in death by one brother, William F. Lashbaugh Jr. Mr. Lashbaugh was a 1959 graduate of Beall High School. He retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. when it closed in 1986. He also retired from Grantsville Performance (Carquest) in 2008. He served in the Co. B, 121st Army National Guard as a sergeant. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, National Pike. Mr. Lashbaugh enjoyed coaching the Grantsville Lions Little League. His passion was his 1936 Street Rod Chevrolet of which he restored and a 1929 Model “A” Ford. His pastime was watching his grandson, Matt, race Go-Karts and his granddaughter, Terra, play basketball. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Gladys (McKenzie) Lashbaugh; one son, David S. Lashbaugh and wife Diane of Mt. Savage; one daughter, Tina L. McKenzie and husband Anthony of Finzel; two grandchildren, his pride and joy, Matthew Lashbaugh and Terra McKenzie; one sister, Barbara Stevenson and husband Jack of Glen Rock, Pa.; one sister-in-law, Martha Lashbaugh of Eckhart; one uncle, Richard Lashbaugh; one niece; nephews; and cousins. Mr. Lashbaugh was cremated in accordance with his wishes. Friends will be received at the Mr. Zion United Methodist Church, Route 40W, Frostburg, on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009 from 10 a.m. to noon. A memorial service will follow at noon with the Rev. Daniel Agnew officiating. The cremains will be buried in the parish cemetery. Guests are invited to a luncheon at the church following the services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt.
