Friday, February 23, 2001 - Cumberland Times-News - FROSTBURG -- Leon G. Rush, 62, of Lower Consol Road NW, Frostburg, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland. Born Aug. 15, 1938, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Randolph and Mabel (McKenzie) Rush. Mr. Rush also was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Rush. Mr. Rush was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Winner Brothers' Coal Company. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the Frostburg Eagles Aerie 1273 and the Farrady Post 24 American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary (Skidmore) Rush; one son, William Leon "Bud" Rush Sr. and friend Linda Clark, Eckhart; two daughters, Cynthia J. Dolly and husband Wayne, and Sandra L. Dicken and husband Leonard, all of Cumberland; five grandchildren, Melinda Garrett, Daniel Rush, Robin Dicken, William Rush Jr. and Cassandra Dicken; two brothers, Anthony Rush and wife Gail, Churchtown, and Curtis Rush and wife Ramona, Clearwater, Fla.; three sisters, Carlene McKenzie, Zilhman, Shirley Brant and husband William, Beall School Road, and Linda Pifer and husband Elmer, Vale Summit; and numerous nieces and nephews. In accordance with his wish, his body will be cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., Frostburg, on Sunday, March 4 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. T. William Preston officiating. Members of Farrady Post 24 Honor Guard will accord military honors at the funeral home.

Rush, 85, formerly of Beall School Road, Frostburg, died Friday, July 14, 2000, at the St. Vincent DePaul Nursing Center, Frostburg. Born Oct. 5, 1914, in Garrett County, she was the daughter of the late Noah and Inez (Minnick) McKenzie. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph Rush; one son, Robert Rush; six brothers, one sister; and one brother-in-law, Joseph McKenzie, who died April, 2000. Mrs. Rush was a retired seamstress at the Flushing Shirt Factory, Grantsville. She was Protestant by faith. Surviving are three daughters, Carlene McKenzie, Zihlman, Shirley Brant and husband William, Beall School Road, and Linda Pifer and husband Elmer, Vale Summit Road; three sons, Anthony Rush and wife Gail, Churchton, Leon Rush and wife Rose, Consol, and Curtis Rush and wife Ramona, Clearwater, Fla.; two sisters, Blanche Spiker, Frostburg Village Nursing Home, and Pearl Garlitz, Avilton; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her body was cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. T. William Preston officiating. Inurnment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers and/or food, the family requests that memorials be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.

I Francis McKinzie of Garrett County in the State of Maryland, being sick and weak in body but of sound and disposeing[sic] mind, memory and understanding, considering the certainty of death, and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and being desirous to settle my worldy[sic] affairs, and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call my hence, do therefore make and publish this my last Will and testament, in manner and form following, that is to say:

First and principally I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God, and my body to the earth, to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter named.

After my debts and funeral charges are paid, I devise and bequeath as follows:

To my dear wife Sarah M. McKinzie of Garrett County Maryland, all my real and personal property which I now posess[sic], or which may accrue hereafter.

Item, Two Military Lots situated in Garrett County Maryland known and distinguished as Military Lots No. Five hundred and sixty (560) and No. Five hundred and ninety two (592) westward of Fort Cumberland, containing in these two lots hereby conveyed One hundred acres of land more or less, being a portion of the land conveyed by John L. McCulloh and Maria S. McCulloh his wife and Naitland Porter and Clara A. Porter his wife to William R. Percy by deed dated on the 30th day of Dec. 1870 and recorded in Liber H.R. No. 31 folio 696 one of the Land records of Allegany County, file and recorded July 31 1886 Liber W.H.T. No11 folio 584 &c one of the Land Records of Garrett County Maryland, dureing[sic] her natural life and after her death to be equally divided between my children to share and share alike.

And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Loyolen McKenzie to be sole Executor of this my last Will and testament, revokeing[sic] and annulling all former Wills by me heretofore made, ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last Will and testament.
