Patrick F. Garlitz, 54, Star Route, Frostburg, Md., was dead on arrival Aug. 13, 1980 at Sacred Heart Hospital. A native of Avilton, he was a son of the late William B. Garlitz and Mary (McKenzie) Garlitz. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Avilton, a veteran of World War II, and the American Legion, Frostburg, Md. Surviving are his widow, Clara (Rowe) Garlitz; one son, William Garlitz, Star Route, Frostburg; three daughters, Miss Robin Garlitz, at home; Mrs. Mary Ann Green, Oakland, Md.; Mrs. Dalene Rae, Vale Summit; five brothers, Roy Garlitz, Harry Garlitz, Herbert Garlitz, and Albert Garlitz, all of Avilton, and Ira Garlitz, Eckhart; four sisters, Mrs. Shirley Mason, Frostburg, Mrs. Beulah Hetz, Avilton; Mrs. Alma Durst and Mrs. Freda Minnick, both of Moscow; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Anne's Catholic Church, Avilton by the Rev. William Dalton. Burial is in the parish cemetery. William Burton Garlitz, 61, Avilton, died Wednesday in Allegany Hospital, Cumberland. A native of Avilton, he was the son of the late Patrick and Mary (Mayhew) Garlitz. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He is survived by five sons: Roy, Harry, and Ira, of Avilton; Julius and Patrick, both of Frostburg; Miss Alberta Garlitz, Avilton; Mrs. Mildred Tipton and Mrs. Beulah Hetz, both of Lonaconing; Mrs. Alma Durst, Washington; and Misses Shirley and Freda Garlitz, at home, and eleven grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 11 a. m. tomorrow at the home, with interment in Avilton Cemetery. The Cumberland Evening Times, March 17, 1950.

Lonaconing, Sept. 28 — A requiem mass was held this morning in St. Anne's Catholic church, Avilton, for Mrs. Mary Agnes (McKenzie) Garlitz, 55, wife of William Garlitz, who died suddenly of a heart attack at her home here Monday afternoon. She had been in failing health for some time. Interment was in Avilton Cemetery. Besides her husband, Mrs. Garlitz is survived by twelve children: Roy and Julius Garlitz, Avilton; Harry and Herbert Garlitz, Butler, Pa.; Patrick Garlitz, Lonaconing; Mrs. Samuel Tipton, Butler; Mrs. Russell Durst, Baltimore; Beulah, Fredia, Shirley, Ira and Albert Garlitz, all at home; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Warren, Grantsville; Mrs. Grant Dibler and Mrs. John Drees, Finzel; two brothers, Joseph McKenzie, Washington, D. Mrs. Mary Garlitz, aged 83, widow of Patrick Garlitz, died Thursday morning, Jan. 13, after six weeks illness, at the home of her son, William, at Avilton. Besides her son, she left 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Avilton. The funeral was held Monday morning. Avilton, Md. May 18 - Zachariah McKenzie, a pioneer farmer of Garrett County, in which he lived all his life, died early yesterday at his home in Avilton. He had been active until stricken by pneumonia three days ago. Surviving are his two sons, Thomas and Joseph, Avilton, and three daughters, Mrs. Grant Deibler and Mrs. William Garlitz, Finzel, Md., and Mrs. Charles Warn, Grantsville. Grantsville, Md., Sept. 17 – Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret McKenzie, 83, wife of Zachariah McKenzie, who died at her home in Avilton, in Garrett County on Friday, was held today at 10:00 am, in At. Ann’s Catholic Church. Interment was in the church cemetery. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Thomas and Joseph McKenzie of Avilton, and four daughters, Mrs. John Dress and Mrs. Grant Deibler of Finzel, Md., Mrs. Clarence Warner of Grantsville and Mrs. William Garlitz of Avilton.
