FROSTBURG — Evelyn Mary Shriver, 88, formerly of 72 Meshach Frost Village, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born April 11, 1913, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Minnick) McKenzie. Her husband, Charles C. Shriver and one son, Darrell “Butch" Shriver also preceded her in death. Mrs. Shriver was a homemaker, and she was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church, Midlothian. Surviving are two daughters, Janice Wilhelm and husband Floyd, Finzel, Judy Hughes and husband Jack, Frostburg; four sons, Walter “Junior" Shriver and wife Virginia, Frostburg, James C. Shriver and wife Marian, Baltimore, Donald Shriver and wife Marion, Borden, and John Shriver and wife Donna, Wrights Crossing. One brother, Francis “Dick" McKenzie, Finzel, and one sister, Thelma Raley, Frostburg; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the Trinity Assembly of God Church on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jimmie Blair and the Rev. George Lear officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jeff Hughes, Ronnie Shriver, Ricky Shriver, Dean Shriver, Chris Shriver and Donnie Shriver Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be John Hughes Jr., Michael Shriver and Michael Hampe. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the United Mine Workers of America. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Grace (Michael) McKenzie; nine daughters, Mrs. Clair Cain, Akron; Mrs. Evelyn Shriver, Borden; Mrs. Wilma Femi, Mrs. Rita Raley, Mrs. Margaret Jeffries, and Mrs. Hilda Wolford, all of Frostburg; Mrs. Rhoda Cutter, Midlothian; Mrs. Della Connors and Mrs. Ruth Durkin, both of Eckhart; and five sons, Irvin McKenzie, Pottsville, Pa.; Anthony, William, Francis and Eugene McKenzie, all of Frostburg; four step-daughters, Mrs. Margaret Jane Jones, Akron; Mrs. Helen Patzenmier, Ellerslie; Mrs. Mildred Minnick, and Mrs. Thelma Raley, Frostburg. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Minnick, Frostburg, and Mrs. Anna Walsh, Cumberland; a brother, patrick McKenzie, Frostburg; 56 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchilden. Frostburg - Patrick McKenzie, 81, of Sand Spring, died this morning in Miners Hospital where he was admitted last night. He was a son of the late Jacob and Fanny (Christner) McKenzie. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Frances Minnick, Vale Summit, and a number of nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Ernest Femi, with whom he resided. The body is at the Hafer Funeral Home where friends will be received tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The rosary will be recited tomorrow at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Her certificate is No. 743,245. This shows the whole number of pensions granted to widows to date. Mr. Jacob Brown, of this city, was the attorney in the case. Frostburg – July 9 – Mrs. Fannie A. McKenzie, widow of the late Jacob McKenzie, died Sunday evening at her home here. She was in her eighty-eighth year. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:30 AM at St. Michael’s Church. Burial will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Avilton. Mrs. McKenzie leaves the following children: Mrs. Joseph Welsh, Mrs. Robert Minnick, Mrs. Joseph Minnick, John and Patrick McKenzie of this city, Richard McKenzie, Garrett County, Mrs. Oscar McKenzie, Grantsville.
