He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was previously employed by Loves Grocery. Larry enjoyed doing yard work, hunting, driving his red Ford truck out in the country, and going to Sheetz for coffee. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gladys Louise (McKenzie) Wilhelm; his four children, Shirley Timney and husband John, of Frostburg, Linda Adams and husband Alan, of Frostburg, Larry Wilhelm, of Cumberland, and Kenneth Wilhelm and wife Carrie, of Avilton; two grandchildren, Danny Timney and wife Jamie, of Virginia, and Christopher Adams, of Frostburg; one great-granddaughter, born Jan. 16, 2011, Madelyn Rae Timney, of Virginia; and seven brothers and sisters, Marilyn Muir, Carol Beeman, Scotty Wilhelm, Roger Wilhelm, Darrell Wilhelm, Steve Wilhelm, and Mike Wilhelm. Friends will be received at Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home P.A., Lonaconing, on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Thomas Winborn officiating. Interment will be at St. Ann's Cemetery, Avilton. Surviving, besides his wife, are two daughters, Rosella and Leora McKenzie, at home; three sons, Bayard A., Howard and Orville S. McKenzie, all of the Avilton section. Two brothers, Noah McKenzie and Peter McKenzie, near Frostburg, also survive.

    GRANTSVILLE — Charles Dishong, 77, died yesterday at Connemaugh Valley Hospital, Johnstown, Pa. A native of Johnstown, he was a son of the late John and Elizabeth (Orner) Dishong. He was a member of Bethany United Church of Latrobe. Surviving are his widow, Hilda (Pfaff) Dishong; a son, Leroy A. Dishong, Frostburg; four stepsons, Donald Brode, West Milton, Ohio; James and Stephen Brode, Latrobe; and Clayton Brode of Colorado; four daughters, Mrs. Kathleen McKenzie, Avilton; Mrs.. Helen Holler and Mrs. Bette Showalter; Salisbury Road; Mrs. Eileen Layman, Grantsville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Delores Garlitz of California; three brothers, Will Dishong, Latrobe; Samuel Dishong, Hyndman; and Herman Dishong, Frostburg; five sisters Mrs. Sylvia Shumaker, Stoystown, Pa.; Mrs. Molly Wampler, Frostburg; Mrs. Goldie Walker, Meyersdale; Mrs. Marie Carbaugh, Thurmont, and Mrs. Nell Shumaker, Boynton; Pa.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The body is at the Newman Funeral Home in Grantsville where friends will be received from 7 until 9 p.m. today and from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. tomorrow. A service will be conducted there Wednesday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The Cumberland Evening Times, November 24, 1969.

    Frostburg - Mrs. Rose Priscilla Dishong, 59, Salisbury, Pa., died Tuesday at Johnstown Memorial Hospital, where she had been admitted earlier that day. She had been in ill health for the past year. Born at Avilton, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Rhoda (Garlitz) Robeson. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Salisbury. She is survived by a son, Leroy F. Dishong, Frostburg; four daughters, Mrs. Kathleen McKenzie, Avilton; Mrs. Betty Jane Showalter, and Mrs. Helen Holler, Salisbury; and Eileen Layman, Grantsville; a brother, Howard Robeson, Avilton; and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Winners, Frostburg, and Mrs. Lula McKenzie, Avilton. The body is at the Thomas Funeral Home, Salisbury, where services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. by Rev. Dr. E. Wilson Kelley, pastor of Meyersdale Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Salisbury Cemetery. The Cumberland Evening Times, April 10, 1958.
