LONACONING — Gladys L. Wilhelm, 84, passed away Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, at her home. Born Dec. 26, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Kathleen (Dishong) McKenzie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry L. Wilhelm, on Jan. 23, 2011. Gladys was a very special person and will be greatly missed. Gladys is survived by her children, Larry Wilhelm, Cumberland; Linda Adams and husband, Alan, Frostburg; Shirley Timney and husband, John, Frostburg; and Kenneth Wilhelm and wife, Carrie, Avilton; two grandchildren, Danny Timney and wife, Jamie, Virginia, and Christopher Adams and wife, Rebecca, Lonaconing; and four great-grandchildren, Madelyn Timney and Jacob Timney, Virginia, and Landon Housel and Aubrey Adams, Lonaconing. There will be no viewing. Graveside services will be private. The family gives a special thanks to her caregivers for the compassionate care given over the past three years. Avilton, Md., Dec. 7 — Olen McKenzie, 75, died of pneumonia yesterday morning. Mr. McKenzie had lived in this section practically all of his life. He operated a large farm. Surviving, besides his wife, are two daughters, Rosella and Leora McKenzie, at home; three sons, Bayard A., Howard and Orville S. McKenzie, all of the Avilton section. Two brothers, Noah McKenzie and Peter McKenzie, near Frostburg, also survive.

She was born in Frostburg, July 26, 1884 and was a daughter of the late Sebastian and May (Entler) Winner. Besides Byard, she is survived by two other sons, Howard McKenzie, Avilton, and Orville McKenzie, Salisbury; one daughter, Mrs. Leora Brown, Avilton; one brother, George Winner, Midland, and one sister, Mrs. Harry Dishong, Frostburg. She was a member of St. Anne’s catholic Church, Avilton, where a funeral service will be conducted tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Dishong, Frostburg; four daughters, Mrs. Kathleen McKenzie, Avilton; Mrs. Betty Jane Showalter, and Mrs. Helen Holler, Salisbury; and Eileen Layman, Grantsville; a brother, Howard Robeson, Avilton; and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Winners, Frostburg, and Mrs. Lula McKenzie, Avilton. I Francis McKinzie of Garrett County in the State of Maryland, being sick and weak in body but of sound and disposeing[sic] mind, memory and understanding, considering the certainty of death, and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and being desirous to settle my worldy[sic] affairs, and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call my hence, do therefore make and publish this my last Will and testament, in manner and form following, that is to say:

First and principally I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God, and my body to the earth, to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter named.

After my debts and funeral charges are paid, I devise and bequeath as follows:

To my dear wife Sarah M. McKinzie of Garrett County Maryland, all my real and personal property which I now posess[sic], or which may accrue hereafter.

Item, Two Military Lots situated in Garrett County Maryland known and distinguished as Military Lots No. Five hundred and sixty (560) and No. Five hundred and ninety two (592) westward of Fort Cumberland, containing in these two lots hereby conveyed One hundred acres of land more or less, being a portion of the land conveyed by John L. McCulloh and Maria S. McCulloh his wife and Naitland Porter and Clara A. Porter his wife to William R. Percy by deed dated on the 30th day of Dec. 1870 and recorded in Liber H.R. No. 31 folio 696 one of the Land records of Allegany County, file and recorded July 31 1886 Liber W.H.T. Frostburg, Sept. 5 - John C. Dishong, 80, died early Friday at his home, Frost avenue extended. A native of Johnstown, Pa., he had resided here for the past 15 years. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Oner) Dishong, with whom he resided, and the following children: Mrs. Sylvia Shumaker, Stoystown, Pa.; William Dishong, Cokeville; Alfred, Charles and Mrs. Goldir Walker, Salisbury, Pa.; Mrs. Nellie Shumaker, Boynton, Pa.; Mrs. Marie Engle, Frederick, Md.; Mrs. Mary Wampler, Harry, Herman and Samuel Dishong, this city. FROSTBURG — Mrs. Martha (Orner) Dishong, 82, widow of John C. Dishong, died early today at her home, 159 Frost Avenue. Surviving are six sons, Alfred L., Harry E. and Herman R. Dishong, all of Frostburg; Charles J. Dishong, Consol: William F., Brendville, Pa., and Samuel F. Dishong, Hyndman, Pa.; five daughters, Mrs. William Wampler, Garrett County; Mrs. Robert Walker, Meyersdale, Pa.; Mrs. Harrison Shoemaker, Boynton, Pa.; Mrs. Silas Shumaker, Stoystown, Pa., and Mrs. John Kalbaugh (sic), Thurmont; a sister, Mrs. Harvey Rager, Johnstown; 37 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. A native of Avilton, he was born May 28, 1854, a son of William and Rhoda Garlitz (sic: this information does not comport with other family obituaries). He is survived by a son, Howard Robeson, Avilton, and three daughters, Mrs. Lulu Myrtle McKinzie, Avilton, Mrs. Emma Winners, Frostburg, and Mrs. Rose Dishong, Salisbury, Pa. Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday in St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Avilton, of which he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
