Rachel Bingham (Grinstead) was staying at this hotel with her mother, Elizabeth Bertha Fritschie(Bingham) in approximately 1925 when she looked out the window and saw her husband-to-be, Ellis Baker "John" Grinstead for the first time. That chance sighting spawned a marriage that produced 8 children and countless grand-children and great-grandchildren.
