    Myrtle S. Minnick, 70, of Hyndman, died March 23, 1983 in Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md. She was born in Hyndman Jan. 8, 1913 and was a daughter of the late Harry Smeak and Lillian (Poorbaugh) Smeak. She was a member of the Fairhope Community Church and the Senior Citizens of Hyndman. She is survived by her husband, Raymond E. Minnick; five sons: Richard D. Minnick Sr. and Reggie K. Minnick, both of Hyndman; Robert E. Minnick of Kittanning; Lloyd J. Minnick, Hyndman RD and Raymond E. Minnick, Jr., Ellerslie, Md.; a brother, Russell Smeak, Augusta, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Susie Stanley, Mount Morris, Mich.; 17 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Services were conducted in the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Leroy Logsdon and the Rev. Timothy Stamper officiating. Interment was in Hyndman Cemetery. Pallbearers were Russell Shaffer, George Cook, William Cook, Charles Miller, Gary Miller and Eugene Kirschner. The Republic, March 31, 1983

Born Feb. 15, 1933 in Hyndman, he was a son of the late Raymond E. and Myrtle M. (Smeak) Minnick. He also was preceded in death by three brothers; Jack, Sam and Jim Minnick; and one sister, Grace Minnick. Mr. Minnick is survived by his wife, Katinka "Kitty"Minnick, of Buffalo Mills; one son, Michael E. Minnick and wife Brenda, of Hyndman; one daughter, Bobbie L. Browne and husband Brad, of Ashland, Ohio; one brother, Reggie K. Minnick, of Phillippi, W.Va.; four step-children; eight grandchildren; eight step-grandchilren and one very special aunt, Geraldine Kennell and Uncle Buck. Mr. Minnick, a glass cutter for P.P.G., Inc., served in the Army Military Police, and was a member of the Bedford American Legion, Hyndman Rod and Gun Club and AARP. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Hyndman Cemetery.     ELLERSLIE — Raymond E. “Jack” Minnick, 56, of Humbird Street, died Sunday, August 23, 1992 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. Born November 29, 1935 in Hyndman, Pa., he was the son of the late Raymond E. and Myrtle M. (Smeak) Minnick. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd J. Minnick, and one sister, Grace Minnick. Mr. Minnick retired in 1975 with 21 years of service in the United States Army. He retired with the rank of Sergeant 1st Class and served two tours in Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of the Hyndman V.F.W. Oscar Jordan Post 7375 and of the Kennells Mills Sportsman’s Club. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Gerda T. (Futschik) Minnick; one son, Ronald E. Minnick, Fort Mead; four daughters, Claudia A. Sumbera, Owasso, Michigan, Patricia L. Cook, Hagerstown, Jacqueline M. Spiker, Wheat Ridge, Colo., and Carolyn R. Troutman, Ellerslie; three brothers, Richard “Sam” Minnick, Sr., Hyndman, Reggie “Bill” Minnick, Phillipi, W.Va., Robert Minnick, RD I, Buffalo Mills, Pa.; seven grandchildren. He was born May 2, 1937, in Hyndman, a son of the late Raymond E. and Myrtle M. (Smeak) Minnick. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Alice Jean (Bridges) Minnick; a son, Richard D. Minnick Jr. of Bedford RD 3; two daughters, Cynthia M. Shaffer and Verna D. Burkett, both of Hyndman; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Reggie K. "Bill" Minnick of Phillippi, W.Va., and Robert E. Minnick of Buffalo Mills RD 1. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd J. Minnick and Raymond E. Minnick; and a sister, Grace M. Minnick. Mr. Minnick was employed by the Bedford County Housing Authority and formerly had worked at the PPG plant in Cumberland, Md. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the Hyndman Rod and Gun Club and the Kennells Mills Sportsman's Club. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Monday at the Harvey H. Born Sept. 6, 1942, in Hyndman, Pa.; he was a son of the late Raymond Sr. and Myrtle Marie (Smeak) Minnick. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Raymond, Richard, Robert, and Lloyd Minnick; and a sister, Grace Minnick. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandy (Lewis) Minnick; children, Brenda Hale and husband, Desi, of Cleveland, Ohio, Steven Minnick and wife Carla of Century, W.Va., Vincent Roy Minnick of Berona Island, Maine; Ralph Edward Lewis and wife Mary of Manassas, Va.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Bill was an active duty Army National Guard. He served as chief of Police of Hyndman, was a Bedford County Sheriff Deputy and a Bedford County Constable.
