Albert Luke Burley, 66, of Cumberland, Md., died Sunday morning at the Lion Manor Nursing Home in Cumberland. He was born in Hyndman RD1 on Feb. 24, 1915, the son of Charles Edward and Rose May (Lowrey(?) Burley. Mr. Burley is survived by his wife, Emma Roberta (Clites) Burley; two daughters, Linda Mae Wills of Cumberland, and Carol Sue Salyards of Great Mills, Md.; three brothers, Robert Burley of Cumberland, Lewis Burley of Baltimore, and John Burley of Hyndman RD 1; and by two sisters, May Meders of Cumberland and Myrtle Kane of LaVale, Md. He is also survived by four grandchildren. Mr. Burley served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for valor. He was a retired machinist formerly employed by Martin-Marietta of Baltimore. He lived in Cumberland for the past 18 years. Funeral services: Tuesday, February 2 at 1 p.m. at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home in Hyndman with the Rev. Leroy Logsdon and the Rev. Timothy Stamper officiating. Burial in the Porter Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday, February 1, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A veterans memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
