She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse J. Piper, on May 31, 1981. She is survived by two sons, Luther E. Piper, Homewood Addition, and Johnny R. Piper, Hyndman RD 1; two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Clites, Cumberland, Md.; and Ms. Barbara J. Piper, at home; four brothers, Marshall Lowery, Charles Town, Ind, Carl Lowery, Cumberland, Md.; Eugene Lowery, Sheltersburg, Ind., Merle Lowery, Corriganville, Md.; six sisters, Mrs. Rosella Burley, Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Betty Piper, Corriganville, Md.; Mrs. Mary Dawson, LeGore KeyMar, Md., Mrs. Mildred Dawson, Cumberland, Md.; Mrs. Wilma Lease, Mount Savage, Md.; Mrs. Geneva Twigg, Barboursville, W.Va.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. CUMBERLAND?— Mildred A. Dawson, 78, of Cumberland, died peacefully Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at New Hope Assisted Living. Born May 9, 1935, near Hyndman, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Walter and Sadie (DeVore) Lowery. She was one of 15 children. She was also preceded in death by a son, Roger L. Dawson and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by a son, Steven A. Dawson, of Wellersburg; six grandchildren, Christine, Adam, Amy, Seth, Leah and Roger Jr. and three sisters, Betty Piper, Geneva Twigg and Wilma Lease. There will be no viewing. He died on 16 May 2006 at the age of 66 in Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland. Mr. Lowery worked in the track department for CSX Railroad for 36 years. He also enjoyed farming and taking care of his animals.

Surviving besides his parents are his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Mae (Miller) Piper; a daughter Sherry Lynn Piper, at home; two brothers, Luther Piper and John Piper, Ellerslie Road, and two sisters, Mrs. Shirley Clites, Cumberland RD 5, and Miss Barbara Piper, at home. The body is at the Zeigler Funeral Home, here, where a service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p. m. by Rev. Henry A. Border, Homewood Addition, and Rev. Idris Martin, Schellsburg, Pa.
