    Floyd G. Clites, 69, of Corriganville, died yesterday at Memorial Hospital. Born at Cooks Mills, Pa., he was a son of the late Charles S. and Ollie (Logsdon) Clites. Mr. Clites was a retired electrician and was a member of Corriganville Methodist Church and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Surviving are his widow, Eula B. (Shrout) Clites, and five children, Paul F. Clites, Cresaptown; Earl E. Clites, Corriganville; Mrs. Juanita E. Siders, Vienna, Va.; Ronald A. Clites, Greenpoint, and Darl Clites, Rockville. The body is at the Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, where friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at Corriganville Methodist Church by Rev. Milton W. Benny, pastor. Burial will be in Porter Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church an hour before the service. The Cumberland News, July 26, 1967

    CRESAPTOWN — Paul Forest Clites, 90, of Cresaptown, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2013. Born April 25, 1923, in Corriganville, he was the son of the late Floyd G. Clites and Eula (Shrout) Clites. He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Pearl Davy Clites of Purgitsville, W.Va. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Earl Clites. Paul was a graduate of Allegany High School, class of 1942. He served his country proudly with the United States Army Air Force during World War II from 1943 to 1945. He was a member of the 1905 Ordnance and Munitions Company, 8th and 9th Air Force. He served in the European Theater of Operations. He also belonged to the Genealogical Society of Allegany County, where he did research on nine branches of his family. Mr. Clites was interviewed for the Library of Congress American Folk Life Center’s Veterans’ History Project by Mr. Charles Harrell. He loved to speak to young people about his military service and was proud that he could still fit into his uniform. He was a guest speaker in Spotsylvania, Va., at the Spotsylvania High School, which was sponsored by Charles Harrell. He also participated in the “Out of the Sticks, Into the Line of Fire” for the 2012 Historical Research Methods Class of Mountain Ridge High School. Paul worked at Sears for many years where he was a salesman. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cresaptown, and at the time of his death, was the oldest living male member of the church. He enjoyed spending time in nature. He enjoyed his wife’s parents’ farm in Hampshire County, W.Va. Paul was an avid gardener who enjoyed seeing his garden come to life again through the work of his friend, Kevin Sanner. Paul is survived by his children, Carol Margaret Clites, Cresaptown, Paul David “Dave” Clites and wife Lisa, Martinsburg, W.Va., Melinda Patton and husband Andy, Martinsburg; brothers, Ronald Clites, Green Point, LaVale and Darl Clites and wife Kay, Potomac; sister, Juanita (Clites) Seeders Ambrose; and grandchild, Michael Lynn Martin. Friends will be received at the Hafer Funeral Service, P.A. - Chapel of the Hills, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at the Calvary Baptist Church, Cresaptown, on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Bruce McBride officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, where military honors will be accorded by Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Martin, Josiah McBride, Clint McDonald, Kevin Sanner, Mike Santoro and Hap Pennington. Mr. Clites was a retired self-employed contractor. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater, and was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ; Kemp Lodge 154, AF&AM, Mount Savage; and the Ali Ghan Shrine, Cumberland. Survivors include his wife, M. Louise (Barncord) Clites; one daughter, Sharon L. Bogard, and one granddaughter, Morgan K. Clites Bogard, both of Corriganville; three brothers, Paul F. Clites, Cresaptown; Ronald A. Clites, Greenport; Darl C. Clites, Rockville; and one sister, Juanita “Susie” Seeders, Springfield, W.Va. Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, Pa. Services will be conducted there Monday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Ken L. Korns and the Rev. Ruth S. Kershner. Interment will be in the Porter Cemetery near Ellerslie. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by members of Oscar Jordan Post 7375, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Hyndman, and the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
