    Thomas J. DeVore, 87, retired farmer of near Ellerslie, died yesterday in Allegany County Infirmary. He was born April 23, 1864, a son of the late Daniel and Rachel DeVore. His wife, the former Miss Rachel Clites, died in 1940. Mr. DeVore held memberhip in Ellerslie Evangelical Church and Tonkaway Tribe No. 120, Improved Order of Red Men, Cumberland Survivors include four children, Mrs. Henry Lowery and Mrs. George Spellman, Ellerslie; Mrs. Walter Lowery and Harvey DeVore, both of Route 1, Hyndman, Pa., and 28 grandchildren. Rites will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Lowery, Ellerslie, by Rev. Charles Raley. Burial will take place in Porter Cemetery there. Mrs. Lowery was a member of the Ellerslie Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband, Henry Lowery; a son, Roy Lowery, Ellerslie; four daughters, Mrs. Elsie Snelson and Mrs. Phyllis Cook, Ellerslie; Mrs. Marian Hosselrode, RD 1, Hyndman and Mrs. Flossie Smith, Baltimore; a sister, Mrs. Walter Lowery, Ellerslie Road; 36 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. The body is at the Zeigler Funeral Home in Hyndman where friends will be received today from 7 until 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 p.m. A service will be conducted there Friday at 2 p.m. Rev. Milton W. Benny Jr. will officiate and burial will be in the Porter Cemetery.

Hosselrode; five sons, Russell and Robert Hosselrode, at home; Curtis, Theodore and Harry Hosselrode, RD 1; three daughters, Mrs. Vivian Webber, Mrs. Anna Webber, and Miss Deborah Hosselrode, all of RD 1; a brother, Roy Lowery, Ellerslie; three sisters, Mrs. Elsie Snelson, Mrs. Phyllis Cook, Ellerslie; Mrs. Flossie Smith, Baltimore; and five grandchildren. Mrs. Smith was a retired press operator for Continental Can Company, Baltimore. Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence St., Hyndman, Pa., Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. "Jerry" and special friend Kathy (Webb), Cresaptown; daughter, Vivian M. Jamison and husband Richard, Ellerslie; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cook was a homemaker. A former member of the Ellerslie Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, her favorite leisure past time was playing Bingo. Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence St., Hyndman, on Sunday from 1:30 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

    Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Ken L. Korns officiating. Interment will be in Porter Cemetery, Hyndman.

    WELLERSBURG, Pa. — Leslie L. “Sam” Emerick, 74, of Wellersburg, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born Nov. 8, 1936, in Wellersburg, he was a son of the late Lester C. and Florence A. (Lowery) Emerick. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Delono “Don” Emerick and Fay M. “Solly” Emerick. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janet Arlene (Bonner) Emerick; daughters, Diana L. McKenzie and husband Rick of Mount Savage, Tammy E. Emerick of Meyersdale, Pa., Shella M. Emerick-Navalaney and husband Stanley of LaVale; four grandchildren, Meggan and Skylar McKenzie, Stanley Jr and Amber Navalaney; a great-granddaughter, Jayla Long; sisters, Pat A. Perdew and husband Melvin of Mobile, Ala.; Paulette K. McCoy and husband Robert of Hyndman, Pa. and Sue Keifer of Bedford. Sam was a tire builder at Kelley-Springfield Tire retiring in 1987 after 29-1/2 years. He was a member of the Barrelville Outdoor Club and the Mount Savage Outdoor Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence St., Hyndman, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Burial will be private at Mountainview Cemetery, Barton.     Patricia (Pat) Ann Perdew, 72, of Montgomery Ala., passed away Dec. 2, 2012, at the Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery, Ala. Pat was born on Nov. 20, 1940, in Wellersburg to Lester Emerick and Florence (Lowery) Emerick. She was a 1959 graduate of Meyersdale High School. She was married to Melvin Perdew of Cumberland, Md., on Jan. 6, 1962. Before being married, Pat worked at Diehl’s Esso Station as a secretary. She then served in the Civil Service and was also a devoted housewife and mother. Pat was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald “Sackum” Emerick, Fay “Solly” Emerick, and Leslie “Sam” Emerick. She is survived by her husband, Melvin Perdew; sons Edward and Gary Perdew; and sisters Paulette “Gerb” McCoy and Beverly Sue Kiefer. She has five grandchildren, Corey, Haley, Christopher, Kelsey and Casey. There will be a small inurnment ceremony at Greenwood & Serenity Memorial Gardens in Montgomery on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012.
