MT. SAVAGE — Mrs. Rellie Krabbenhoft, 88, of here, died yesterday at Frostburg Community Hospital where she had been a patient since March 28. Born at Mt. Savage, she was a daughter of the late Stewart and Sophia (Winebrenner) Winebrenner. Mrs. Krabbenhoft was twice married and both her husbands, Daniel Jones and Henry Krabbenhoft, preceded her in death. She was a member of Mt. Savage United Methodist Church, the Auxiliary of Old Rail Post 6025. Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Ladies Auxiliary of Mt. Savage Volunteer Fire Company. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Harden, of here, and Mrs. May Arthur, Frostburg; a brother, George Winebrenner, of here; five grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Henry Stewart Winebrenner, 65, of 628 Henderson Avenue, died last night at his home following an illness of six months. Born in Mt. Savage, a son of the late Stewart and Mary S. (Winebrenner) Winebrenner, Mr. Winebrenner was employed at the Cumberland Brewing Company. He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of First Nazarene Church. Also surviving besides his widow, Helen V. (Twigg) Winebrenner, are three children, Mrs. Herbert F. Dawson and Leo L. Winebrenner, both of this city, and Lawrence H. Winebrenner, Seymour, Ind.; two brothers, Charles W. and George Winebrenner, both of Mt. Savage; three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Seaber and Mrs. Mary Nole, both of Altoona, Pa., and Mrs. Rullie Krabbenhoft, Mt. Savage, and eight grandchildren. The body is at the George Funeral Home. Services will be conducted on Wednesday at 2 p. m. at the funeral home by Rev. H. E. Heckert, pastor of First Church of Nazarene. Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park. Hyndman - Mrs. Bertha L. Seaber, 71, of Altoona, died Thursday in Hollidaysburg Nursing Home. Born in Mount Savage, she was a daughter of the late Henry S. and Mary Winebrenner and the widow of Philip Seaber. She is survived by a son, George Seaber, Linden, N. J.; two brothers, George and Charles W. Winebrenner, Mount Savage; two sisters, Mrs. Rullie Krabbinaf, Mt. Savage, and Mrs. Mary Beltz, Altoona; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was a member of 58th Street Methodist Church, Altoona. The body is at the Zeigler Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be conducted there Monday at 11 a.m. by Rev. BEDFORD, Pa. — Iris E. Dawson, 84, of Bedford, formerly of Mechanic Street, Cumberland, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born Dec. 11, 1926 in Barrelville, she was the daughter of the late Henry Steward Winebrenner and Hazel Olive (Grady) Winebrenner. She was also preceded in death by her son, Herbert Francis Dawson Jr; and, two brothers, Lawrence H. Winebrenner, and Leonard L. Winebrenner and wife Ruby. Iris grew up in Cumberland and attended Allegany High School. After high school, she worked several jobs, including Mason’s Barn and Telephone Answering Service. Her favorite job was at the B & O, where she met and married Herb, and became a homemaker. She was Methodist by faith. Iris was a member of the D.A.R.; the UTU, Chapel Hill Lodge 176, and Cumberland Aerie 245, F.O.E., where she enjoyed helping out with bingo when she was younger. More than anything, Memaw, as she was affectionately called, loved her family. She was never too busy to be there for anyone who needed help or a hug. In her early years, she loved roller skating, bowling, and bingo, but took time to serve as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader for her kids. In later years, she found slot machines to be her total pleasure. Survivors include her husband, Herbert Francis Dawson Sr.; two daughters, Sandi Hnilica and husband George, and Dee Owens and husband Harry; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Dawson; six grandchildren, Dena Couturier and children Harmoni and Noah, Dillard Irvin and wife Kathy and children Amber and Ashley, Dustin Hnilica and wife Jennifer, Krista Friend and husband Jimmy and children Curtis, Madison, Joe, and Sarah, Amber Beachy and husband Darren and children Micah and Jonathan, and Herbert W. Dawson; and a sister-in-law, Betty Winebrenner. At her request, her body will be cremated and there will be no memorial service. MOUNT SAVAGE - Edward L. Winebrenner, 75, of Main Street, Mount Savage, died Friday, Jan. 29, 1993 at Memorial Hospital. Born June 21, 1917 at Mount Savage, he was the son of the late Charles Winebrenner and Margaret (Shaffer) Winebrenner. Mr. Winebrenner owned and operated Mr. Ed's Phillips Service Station in Mount Savage. He was a former driver of Swift and Company and was of the Methodist faith. Surviving are his wife, Trennetta (Watkins) Winebrenner; one son, Stephen E. Winebrenner and his wife, Sandy, Mount Savage; one daughter, Cathy Blank and her husband, Dennis, Mount Savage; one sister, Leora Myers, Baltimore; and seven grandchildren, Sean Harr, Christopher Harr, Stephen Winebrenner, Scott Winebrenner, Katie Blank, Jeremy Blank and Christopher Blank. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home in Frostburg Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held there Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Edward Hendricks. Rullie Georgianna "Butch" Hott, 65, of Callah Hill, Mount Savage, Md., died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md. Born January 22, 1940, in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late John E. Harden and Margaret C. (Winebrenner) Harden. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert C. Harden. Mrs. Hott retired as a home health care aide with the Allegany County Health Dept. and the State of Maryland. She was a lifetime member of the Mt. Savage United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, member of the Mt. Savage Volunteer Fire Co., and a longtime worker of the Friday night dinners at the fire hall. Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Roy E. Hott; one son, Roy A. Hott and wife Krista, Bedford; two daughters, LouAnn Bittner and husband Kevin, Mt. Savage, and Rene Beal and husband Daniel, Mt. Savage; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild whom she was dedicated to; two brothers, John E. Harden and wife Ruth, Utica, NY, and Charles D. John Francis Blank, 58, of Mount Savage died Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Born Oct. 27, 1959, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Elmer F. and Helen M. (Harden) Blank. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Michelle Blank. John grew up in his home town of Mount Savage where he was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church. He graduated from Mount Savage High School in 1977. He worked as a senior Inspector at Alpha Corporation where his proudest achievement there was to be the senior inspector for Flight 93 Memorial Project in Shanksville, Pa. His main duties were to oversee and be a liaison to the National Park Service for the work of roadways, the memorial wall, sacred grounds and all the landscaping for the site. Prior to this, he had worked for construction firms of Morgan Keller, Baulfour Beatty and C & M Construction. He oversaw work at Fort Lee Army Base and two phases of construction at the North Branch Correctional Institute. Other local projects were Pullen Hall, remodeling and overseeing the construction of the new Frostburg Library. He loved his work as much as his family. His passion for both shown through. He and his father shared the same line of work and brought Johnny much joy and pride during the hours spent with his father discussing different projects together. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Jean Blank; daughters, Bridget Barney and husband, Josh, Pooler, Ga., Reyna Blank Keller and husband, Harry, Point Mugu, Calif.; sons, Michael Blank, Cumberland, and John David Blank and wife, Shell, Sonora, Kent.; grandchildren, Kyra Blank, Joseph Blank and Aniyah Barney; brothers, David Blank and Kenneth Blank; sister, Wendy Clements, Mount Savage; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. Services will be conducted at St. George's Episcopal Church, Mount Savage, on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rosalie Richards officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Johnny was full of life and never met a stranger. His love for life, family and friends was his life.
