    He died on 6 Jun 1964 at the age of 86 in Frostburg, Allegany Co., Maryland. FROSTBURG - Joseph F. Logsdon, 85, of 26 Depot Street, died at his residence yesterday. He was born in Eckhart, son of the late Moses and Anna (Rhinehart) Logsdon. His wife, Ada (Deffibaugh) Logsdon preceded him in death. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Eva Arnold, Keyser; Mrs. Virginia Dougherty, Hyattsville; Miss Alma Logsdon, at home; two sons, Franklin Logsdon, Largo, Fla.; Vonder Logsdon, Corfu, N. Y.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and one brother, Hiram Logsdon, Frostburg. He was a member of the First Methodist Church. The body is at the Durst Funeral Home where friends will received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home by Rev. Harold B. Wright, and interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. The Cumberland Sunday Times, June 7, 1964

    FROSTBURG — Alma Logsdon, originally of Depot St., Frostburg, and Growdenvale Dr., Cumberland, died peacefully on Friday, Oct. 16, 2009. Alma was residing at Colonial Courtyard Assisted Living in Bedford, Pa., to be near her great-niece, Lana Allen, of 1203 Centennial Rd., Bedford, Pa. She was born on July 10, 1914, in Eckhart, a daughter of the late Joseph F. Logsdon and Ada Deffenbaugh Logsdon. Alma was also preceded in death by her brothers, Franklin and Vonder Logsdon, and sisters Eva (Logsdon) Arnold and Virginia (Logsdon) Daugherty. She is survived by a niece, Betty (Logsdon) Bowman, of Wheaton, Ill., and nephews John and George Arnold, of Keyser, W.Va., Jerry and Bruce Daugherty, of Columbia, and David Logsdon, of Coatopa, Ala. She is also survived by numerous great-nieces and nephews. Alma was a graduate of Beall High School, Frostburg State University and University of Maryland. She was inducted into the FSU Bobcat Hall of Fame (basketball) in 1994. Alma was an elementary teacher and principal in Allegany County. She also was a World War II veteran serving in the US Army Air Force. She was very active in her community. She was a member of Allegany County Teacher’s Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, International Society of Women Educators, Alumni Association of FSU and Allegany County League of Women Voters. Alma was an ardent volunteer in many areas including local nursing homes and the American Red Cross. She was inducted into the Maryland Senior Citizen’s Hall of Fame in 2004. Above all, Alma was a faithful servant of God. She was a member of Frostburg United Methodist Church where she taught the Fellowship Bible Sunday School Class for over 40 years. She also worshipped at Faith Independent Bible Church in Frostburg. She actively and discreetly supported many Christian missions. Alma will be fondly missed by the many people whose lives she touched. Per her request, there will be no viewing or service. Interment will be at the Frostburg Memorial Park. Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., is in charge of arrangements.
