    Hyndman, September 3 - Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Florence Wilhelm, 67, wife of George Wilhelm, who died Sunday afternoon at her home in Milligan's Cove, after an illness of several months, will be conducted tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. in Milligan's Cove cemetery. Mrs. Wilhelm was a native of Bedford county and a daughter of the late Jacob and Martha (Logsdon) Smeak. She held membership in the Lutheran church. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Sheirer, of Buffalo Mills; three sons, Leslie and Ernest Wilhelm, at home, and Reggie Wilhelm, of Hyndman; three sisters, Mrs. James S. Her husband survives, along with these children: Leslie and Ernest, both at home; Mrs. Dorothy Sheirey, Buffalo Mills, and Ridgie Wilhelm, Hyndman. She was a sister of Harry Smeak, Hyndman; Mrs. James Werner, Meyersdale; Mrs. Henry Lindeman, Meyersdale, and Mrs. Annie Mason, Hyndman. Mrs. Wilhelm was a member of the Lutheran Church. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Milligan's Cove Christian Church. Burial was made in the church cemetery under the direction of Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman. William Smeak, whose home is in Hyndman, Pa., aged 23, while walking on the Baltimore and Ohio railroad tracks near Keyser yesterday morning, was struck by a passing train which ran over his right leg, cutting it off below the knee. After receiving surgical attention at Keyser, he was brought to this city last night on train No. 14, and taken to the Allegany Hospital where he was reported at 2:30 o'clock this morning to be resting as well as could be expected. Surviving are three sons, Ralph, Reginald and Russell Smeak, all of Hyndman; three daughters, Mrs. Suzie Cook, Mrs. Myrtle Minnick, and Mrs. Helen Conners, also of Hyndman; and three sisters, Mrs. Annie Mason, Hyndman, and Mrs. Ruth Swearman and Mrs. Suzie Lindeman, Meyersdale.     Mrs. Evelyn M. Wolford, 1723 Bedford Street, died early today in Newton D. Baker VA Center, Martinsburg, W. Va., where she had been a patient about a year. Born in Hyndman, Pa., Mrs. Wolford operated a beauty shop on South Liberty Street here for nearly 30 years. She entered the Army Women's Auxiliary corps in 1942 and served three years overseas in the Pacific theater. Following her discharge from the armed forces, Mrs. Wolford accepted a Civil Service position and was supervisor of property and supply at Manila and Okinawa. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Florence Thomas, Meyersdale, Pa., and Mrs. John Mason, Hyndman, and a brother, Fred Hasselrode, also of Hyndman. The body will arrive at the Stein Funeral Home late this afternoon for rites Friday at 2 p. m. with Rev. Dr. Hixon T. Bowersox, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, officiating. Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Lee Halcomb, Long Beach, Calif.; two brothers, Reggie Smeak, Hyndman, Russell Smeak, Augusta, Ga.; two sisters, Mrs. Raymond Minnick, Hyndman; Mrs. James Stanley, Mt. Morris, Mich.; and two grandchildren. The body is at the Ziegler Funeral Home, Hyndman, where friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted there tomorrow at 2 p. m. by Rev. John Weaver. Surviving are two sons: Paul (Bud) Critchfield and wife Betty, Salisbury; Richard Critchfield and wife Beverly, Fort Hill; one daughter, Connie Shaffer and husband Robert, Gibsonia; two sisters: Ethel Martincic, Lancaster; Elaine Miller, Meyersdale; seven grandchildren: Cindy, Tracy, Larissa, Ryan, Joy, Pam and Ann Marie; and six great-grandchildren: Nathan, Wade, Travis, Tyler, Dominique and Jesse. There were no particulars. A crew member of a bomber with the 20th Squadron of the Army Air Forces on Tinian, he was taken into the Army April 5, 1943, and went overseas last May.     MEYERSDALE, July 13 — The funeral service for Sergeant Charles E. Swearman, 26, who was killed in the Pacific area December 20, 1945, will be held at 2 P. M. Wednesday at Konhaus funeral home here. Burial will be made in Union Cemetery with the V. F. W. and American Legion in charge of military rites. The son of James and Ruth Swearman, he worked at Martin airplane plant at Baltimore before going into the Air Force, serving with a bomb group. The Daily Courier, Connellsville, July 13, 1948

    The body of Sgt. Charles Edward Swearman, aged 26, is expected to arrive in Meyersdale soon for reburial, coming via the Army transport, Albert M. Boe, which is scheduled to dock in San Francisco in the near future. Sgt. Swearman, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Swearman, North St., Meyersdale, was killed Dec. 20, 1945, in an airplane crash on Tinian Island in the South Pacific. He was serving as a scanner on a bomber with the 20th Air Force when he lost his life. He was inducted into the armed forces April 5, 1943, and went overseas in May 1945. He was stationed with the 315th Bomb Wing, Northwest Field, Guam, and following his death was returned to Guam for burial in the Agat military cemetery there. He is a graduate of Meyersdale High School in the class of 1937. Prior to entering the service, he was employed by the Glenn L. Martin Co. in Baltimore, Md. Meyersdale Republican, May 20, 1948

    The body of Charles Edward Swearman, aged 26 at the time of his death, was returned to Meyersdale, July 12, for reburial in the family plot in Union Cemetery. Sgt. Swearman was born October 19, 1919, in Meyersdale, the son of James Swearman and Ruth Smeak Swearman. He graduated from Meyersdale High School, class of 1937, and was later employed by Glenn L. Martin, Baltimore. Death came as the result of a B-29 crash at North Field, Tinian Island, on December 20, 1945. His body was returned to his home base on Guam, and interment was in the Agat Military Cemetery on that island. Sgt. Swearman was serving with the 411th Bomb Squadron (VH), 502nd Bomb Group, 315th Bomb Wing, stationed at Northwest Field, Guam. In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Paul Critchfield, Boynton; Mrs. Ethel Martinele, Rockwood, and Elaine, at home. He was a member of the Knights of Malta Teutonic Lodge No. 320, and Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Meyersdale. The service was conducted at the Konhaus Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. July 14. The Rev. Howard K. Hilner, church pastor, officiated. Full military rites were extended by members of John C. Tressler Post No. 3504, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Charles E.
