GRANTSVILLE — James Hugh Donahue, 76, of Grantsville, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010 in Auburndale, Fla., as a result of a motorcycle/auto accident. Born Oct. 8, 1933, in Midland, he was the son of Joseph Donahue, Frostburg, and the late Margaret (Lucas) Donahue. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Claudine “Dean” (Wilt) Donahue; a daughter, Kathy DeHaven; and a sister, Maureen Durst. Mr. Donahue was an ironworker for Local 556 and owner of American Fence Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Grantsville Post 214, American Legion, Salisbury V.F.W., Frostburg Eagles and Grantsville Sportsmen’s Club. He enjoyed riding his motorcycles and loved his grandchildren and was looking forward to returning home to see them. Along with his father, he is also survived by two daughters, Janet Winebrenner and husband, Joe, Moorefield, W.Va., Lorri Holliday and husband, Eric, Grantsville; a brother-in-law, Dennis Durst, Hagerstown; eight grandchildren, Steven, Shane, Amy, Lance, James Ryan, MaKenna, Kaitlynn and Jarrett; two great-grandchildren and expecting a third in the Spring, Brianna, Jacob and Reilly Joseph; several nieces and nephews, many friends who loved him dearly including Scotty and Wilma Jean (Beeman) Crider of Polk City, Fla.; and his motorcycle buddy, Harley, the dog. Friends will be received in the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Hannon officiating. Interment will be in the Grantsville Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by Grantsville Post 214, American Legion.
