- CUMBERLAND — Gary Ernest Arnold, 55, of Cumberland, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 17, 2003 at Memorial Hospital. Born Dec. 26, 1947, in Cumberland, he was the son of Cora Davis, Cumberland and the late Paul Arnold. Surviving are his step-father, Richard Davis, Cumberland; and step-mother, Dorothy Arnold, Cumberland. Mr. Arnold was an engineer for 29 years for the CSX Railroad. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He was a life member of the Vietnam Veterans’ of America, A.B.A.T.E. Motorcycle Club and the Cumberland American Legion. His hobby was restoring cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his mother and stepparents, surviving are three daughters, Tina G. Fazenbaker and husband Dale Jr., Lonaconing, Stephanie L. Taylor and husband Michael, Alicia A. Arnold, all of Frostburg; three sisters, Sharon Stallings and husband Rick, Cumberland, Debbie Drees and husband Gene, Finzel, Sandra Nelson and husband Raymond, Cumberland; two brothers, Roger Diehl Sr., Wiley Ford, Paul Arnold Jr. and wife Ruth, Cumberland; one granddaughter, McKenna, Fazenbaker; and a special nephew, Roger Diehl Jr., LaVale. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Monday. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William G. Boyer officiating. Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans’ Cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone. Military honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans of America.
