Notes |
- surrounded by his loving family. Born Dec. 27, 1932 in a log cabin in Berlin, Pa., he was the son of the late William and Catherine Ohler. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, William Ohler and Simon Ohler; a sister, Effie Martz; and, two brothers-in-law, George Kimble and Glenn Shrock. He served his country during the Korean Conflict, as a Private in the U.S. Army. Oscar was the beloved first Pastor of Graceland Baptist, having served there for 18 and a half years. He then became a Home Missionary for 11 and a half years. Oscar again returned to minister at Graceland until his death. During the time of his service to God, he worked on many committees at both the Western Baptist Association and on the state level. Oscar also served as a Pastor with Hospice, which was dear to his heart. In addition to serving God, Oscar loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed Blue Grass music with JR and attending sporting events to watch his grandkids in action. He loved traveling on vacations and riding roller coasters. He was proud of each of them — and would gladly tell you about them! Every grandchild will claim to be his favorite — because they are! He loved to watch wrestling and Fox News (sorry Scott). He will be missed by many and loved by all. Loving him from here are his wife of 58 years, Eileen (Ramhoff) Ohler; his children, Oscar, Jr., and wife Cathy, Woodstock, Va., Roy, and wife Karla, Pataskala, Ohio, Cathie, and husband Buck Lee, Swanton, Joy, and husband Johnnie Cousins, Short Gap, Charlie Messick, and wife Terena, Short Gap, and Karen Iser, Short Gap.
