- Cumberland, MD - John Orbile Griffiths, 85, of Cumberland, MD, died Tuesday, January 14, 2003, at the WMHS Memorial Campus Hospital. Born February 1, 1917, Uniontown, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas Griffiths and Eva Pearl (Crowe) Griffiths. Mr. Griffiths was retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire and Rubber Company and was a U.S. Army/Air Corps Veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane (Doyle) Griffiths, Cumberland, MD; his son, John D. Griffiths and his wife, Linda, Bedford, PA; his daughters, Carolyn Redman and her husband, Donald, Cumberland, MD; and Barbara Shaw and her husband, Delmis, Cumberland, MD; his sisters, Leona Durr and her husband, Elmer, Frostburg, MD; and Gradys Stanton, Frostburg, MD; and two grandchildren, Heidi Banuelos and J.C. Redman. Friends were received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A. 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Friday, January 17, 2003, from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. A funeral service was conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, January 18, 2003, at 10:00 A.M. with the Rev. Mildred Martin officiating. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park.
