- FRIENDSVILLE - Robert Williams Murphy, 63, was dead on arrival yesterday at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland. A native of Frostburg, he was a son of Mrs. Mary Martha (Williams) Murphy, Friendsville, and the late Quincy A. Murphy. Mr. Murphy recently retired as supervisor at the Romney School for the Deaf and Blind. He at one time was employed by the Hafer Funeral Home in Cumberland. He was a member of the Friendsville United Methodist Church. Mr. Murphy was a member of the Methodist Men's Club and the National Teachers' Association of West Virginia and was a charter member of the Friendsville Fire Company. Besides his mother, he is suvived by his widow, Theresa (Selby) Murphy; two daughters, Mrs. Mary T. Schroyer, Baltimore, and Mrs. Esther M. Benedict, Friendsville; a son, Robert S. Murphy, Friendsville; a brother, Ralph A. Murphy, Friendsville, and 11 grandchildren. The body is at the John O. Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, and will be removed to the Newman Funeral Home in Friendsville where friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. today, and Friday from 2 to 4 and '7 to 9 p.m. There will be no viewing tomorrow. Services will be conducted Saturday, at 2 p.m. in the Friendsville United Methodist Church by Rev. Robert VanGilder. Interment will be in BIooming Rose Cemetery.
