- FINZEL — Lillian D. Crowe, 76, of Finzel, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at her residence. Born Dec. 2, 1929, in Finzel, she was the daughter of the late Edward G. Baker and Velma (Wagner) Baker. Lillian was also preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Arnold and June Fissell; and a sadly missed son, Wayne L. Crowe Sr. Lillian was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She graduated from Grantsville High School in 1947. She was an active member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church all her life and a member of the United Methodist Women. Lillian was active in the Northern Garrett Republican Club, volunteered for the American Heart Assoc., and was a past member of the Eastern Garrett Ladies Auxiliary She was very active in her community, but her greatest attribute was the love and care she provided to her family. Lillian raised five children, three grandchildren, and helped greatly with six great-grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Harold L. Crowe; two sons, Donald E. Crowe and wife Shirley, Kent Island; and Dennis L. Crowe Sr. and wife Peggy, Finzel; two daughters, Linda S. Messmer, Glen Burnie; and Delores Sullivan and husband Andy, North Carolina; one daughter-in-law, Glenda Crowe, Frostburg; seven grandchildren, Dennis L. Crowe Jr. and wife Faith, Barton; Thomas W. Crowe and wife Nicole, Cresaptown; Christy D. Metts and husband Matt, Finzel; Nicole and Chelsea Messmer, Glen Burnie; Wayne L. Crowe Jr., Cumberland; and Kari Johnson and husband Ray, Frostburg; and e11 great-grandchildren. Lillian had an extra special relationship with six great-grandchildren, Haleigh, Kloey, Emily, Noah, Gracie and Audrey Metts. They will miss her dearly. She is also survived by Carl Baker, Finzel, Edward A Baker, Ohio, Everett Baker and wife Eleanor, S. Carolina, Janice Wilhelm, Ohio, and a brother-in-law, Owen Arnold, Pocahontas, Pa. Friends will be received at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 29 Pocahontas Road, west of Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the church on Saturday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Daniel Agnew officiating. Interment will be in the Emmanuel Methodist Cemetery, Route 40 West. Pallbearers will be Donald Crowe, Andy Sullivan, Matthew Metts, Dennis Crowe Jr., Thomas Crowe and Wayne Crowe Jr. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Garrett County, Inc., PO Box 371, Oakland, MD 21550. We greatly appreciate their services. Donors may also be contribute to their favorite charity in memory of Lillian. The Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, is handling the arrangements.
She was buried on 4 Mar 2006 in Emmanuel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Frostburg, Maryland.
