- Mrs. Nellie Rella Burns, 76, of 316 Furnace Street, died this morning in Sacred Heart Hospital. A native of Midland, she was a daughter of the late George and Annie (Crowe) Layman. Her husband, James G. Burns, preceded her in death. She was a member of the Navy Mothers Club. Survivors include a son, Owen C. Burns, Cresaptown; a daughter, Mrs. Francis L. Meconi, city; two brothers, Benjamin Layman, Syracuse, N. Y., and Laurence Layman, Washington; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Neat, city; Mrs. Charles Wolfe, Hagerstown, and Mrs. Fuller Davis, Frostburg; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The body is at the Stein Funeral Home where the family will receive friends tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at 2 p.m. by Rev. Ralph Wallace. Interment will be in Frostburg Memoral Park. The Cumberland Evening Times, October 16, 1961
