    Notes
    • RIDGELEY, W.Va. -Tamara "Tammy" (Brode) Bradley, 43, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, ending an extended and courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). She died at home surrounded by family and friends. I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Born Sept. 30, 1963, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of Philip (Bill) and Hattie Jean (Engle) Brode, of Hoffman. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Bella Mae Engle, on May 13, 2007. She is survived by her parents; her husband of 12 years, Kim Bradley; his daughter Jamie Hill, who she loved as her own, and husband Jason; two granddaughters, Alex and Gracie Hill; her loving and devoted brother, Philip Brode III, of Cincinnati, Ohio; mother-in-law, Isabella Bradley; in addition to numerous cousins, and two devoted friends who helped through trying times, Sandra Smith and Dianne Shircliffe. Tammy was a member of the Eckhart United Methodist Church. She was a 1981 graduate of Beall High School. Tammy graduated from Allegany College and went on to Frostburg State University, earning a Bachelor's degree in Business in 1985. She worked for ATK for 20 years, most recently as Vice President, Finance and Administration. Tammy was a devoted wife, daughter and sister. She loved her home, her gardens and spending time with her family, friends, co-workers and her Cocker Spaniel, Sydney. Friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. George Harpold assisted by the Rev. Lewis Emerick. Interment will be in the Porter Cemetery, Eckhart. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Laurie Gutmann, WVU Department of Neurology, who with incredible compassion and care, guided us through this journey. The family is also grateful to their many friends at ABL who have been so helpful during this time. In addition, many thanks are extended to her loyal and dedicated caregivers; Colleen Myers, Jason Gough, Lala Miner, Ethel Durst, Martha Bishop, Melody Sacks and Krista Arbogast; and to the ALS Association, especially Linda Talmon. Pallbearers will be Kevin Engle, Gary Edwards, Kirby Smith, Chuck Durney, Ansel Shircliffe, Craig Elmer and Mike Mattingly. In lieu of flowers, friends may chose to make donations to the Eckhart United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 75, Eckhart Mines, MD, 21528, or in support of ALS research through The ALS Association, Western PA - West Virginia Chapter, Landmarks Building, Suite 550, 100 West Station Square Drive, Pittsburgh PA 15219-1122.

      God looked around his garden,
And he found an empty space.
He gazed upon this lowly earth,
      And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you,
      And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful -
      He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering,
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
      Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough,
And the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyes,
      And whispered, "Peace Be Thine."
It broke our hearts to lose you,
      But you didn't go alone.
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
