- Ellerslie, Maryland - Patricia C. "Patty" Sell, 57, of Webbed Foot Way, Ellicott City, formerly of Ellerslie, died on Friday, July 2, 2004, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Towson. Born on Sept. 15, 1946, she was the daughter of Marjorie W. (Shroyer) Handschumacher , Cumberland, and the late Dewey M. Nixon. Her stepfather, Garland M. Handschumacher, also preceded her in death. Surviving are David R. Sell, her husband of 32 years, whom she married on April 8, 1972, in Ellerslie; a brother, Richard M. Nixon Sr. and wife Bonnie, Prince Frederick; a stepbrother, Frederick Handschumacher and wife Linda, Silver Spring; Nathan, more like a child than a pet; and many, many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mrs. Sell was a 1964 graduate of Mount Savage High School. She worked as a printed circuit designer for M/A-Com, an electronic components manufacturer in Hunt Valley, and was one of the most senior employees of the company. She attended Bethany United Methodist Church in Ellicott City. She was committed to making her community a better place, and she was president of the Ellicott Park Townhouse Association for the past six years. She loved her garden, especially her flowers, crafts and shopping with her friends. Beaches were among her favorite environments and she and her husband spent many relaxing hours beachcombing to add to their collection of shells. Funeral services will be conducted at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence St., Hyndman, Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Virginia Weaver officiating. Interment will be in Porter Cemetery, north of Ellerslie, in Londonberry Township, Bedford County, Pa. Gerald Shroyer, Ronnie Riggs, Richard Nixon, Marvin Lowery, Ivan Murphy and Mark Beal will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Sell had a generous heart and gave to every cause whose appeal arrived in her mailbox.
