- PHILIPPI, W.Va. - George William Dom Sr., 68, of Philippi, formerly of Mount Savage, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, at his residence.Born Dec. 14, 1938, in Mount Savage, he was the son of the late James Curtis Dom and Zelda Bell (Ritzer) Dom of Wellersburg, Pa. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one son, George Dom Jr.; and two grandchildren, Hannah Michelle and Savannah LeAnn Hess.
Mr. Dom was a heavy equipment operator for Anchor Energy. He served in the Army National Guard with 26 years service. He was a member of the Mount Savage Fire Department, Barrelsville Outdoor Club and the Old Rail Post 6025 V.F.W. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are two former wives, Barbara (Winebrenner) Dom and Angie McVicker; three daughters, Kim (Dom) and husband Tom Hardinger, Ellerslie, Md., Alaina Dom, Philippi, and Jessie Dom and friend Paul Hess, Grafton; one stepdaughter, Amanda Pisino, Grafton; four sons, Mark and wife Amy Dom, Wellersburg, Eric Dom and friend Angie Orndorff, Mount Savage, Troy and wife Tina Dom, Grafton, Shawn Dom and friend Ellie Brown, Frostburg, Md.; one stepson, Scott Cross, stationed in Korea; two sisters, Marie (Dom) and husband Jack Shockney, Westminster, Md., and Anna (Dom) and husband Richard Marriott, Fort Mill, S.C.; two brothers, James and wife Louise Dom, Littlestown, Pa., and Bradley Dom and friend Debbie Davis, Flintstone, Md.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, from 8 to 11 a.m. the service hour with Pastor Randy Swiger officiating. Mr. Dom will be moved to the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg. Friends will be received there on Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted there on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Randy Swiger officiating. Interment will be in the Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens where military honors will be accorded at graveside by the Old Rail Post 6025 V.F.W. Honor Guard.
