  Notes	ECKHART — John W. “Jack” “Red” Engle Jr., 81, of Eckhart, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2010, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born Oct. 9, 1928, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late John Wesley Engle Sr. and Chadwick Elizabeth (Nichols) Engle. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Cecelia (McMillen) Engle, and one sister, Cora Engle. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Mr. Engle was a retired Regional Superintendent for the Northeast Region of McKinney Drilling Co. in Delmont, Pa., where he worked for forty-seven years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a Drill Sergeant with the 82nd Airborne Division Paratroopers during the Korean Conflict. John was a member of the Eckhart United Methodist Church and also the West Hempfield Presbyterian Church, USA, in Irwin, Pa., the Moose Lodge 348, of Frostburg, the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and was a 32nd degree Mason of Pittsburgh, Pa. Surviving are two sons, John W. Engle III and wife Terri, of Clemmons, N.C. and Kevin Engle and wife Judy, of Linden, Va.; two grandsons, John Wesley Engle IV and wife Maya, of Charlotte, N.C. and Zachary Robert Engle and fiancee Meghan Dawson, of Memphis, Tenn., and numerous cousins. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home P.A., on Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. A funeral service will follow at the Eckhart United Methodist Church at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. A meal will be served after the service. Visitation will be held at the West Hempfield Presbyterian Church USA, in Irwin, Pa., on Saturday, Sept. 25, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. in the church with the Dr. Rev. John Simpson and the Rev. George Harpold officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Eckhart United Methodist Church, P O Box 75, Eckhart, MD, 21528 or to the West Hempfield Presbyterian Church, USA, 8 West Hempfield Drive, Irwin PA 15642.
