- CUMBERLAND — Marguerite E. Burley, 79, formerly of Manns Terrace, Cumberland, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at The Lions Center. Born Aug. 14, 1927, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Alton and Mary Ellen (Malone) Chaney. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Daniel R. Burley Sr.; a son, Terry A. Burley; and two brothers, John Chaney and Donald Burley. Mrs. Burley was retired from Memorial Hospital, where she had worked in Central Supply. She had been raised in the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. Survivors include two sons, Daniel R. Burley Jr. and Gregory A. Burley; one daughter, Sandra D. Burley, one sister, Juanita See; three half-sisters, Mary Stanfield, Shirley Moffett and Sandra K. Parker; three grandchildren, Shawn Hobell, Brian Hobell and Tamra Burley; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, PA,, 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at l p.m. with the Rev. Glenn Cappachione officiating. Interment will be in Cooks Mills Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.
