- Rev. Owen Hitchens Preston, 82, Meyersdale, died November 1, 2015 at Somerset Hospital. Born January 14, 1933 in Frostburg, MD., son of Clarence William and Ethel Anna (Murphy) Preston. Preceded in death by parents; 1st wife, the former Helen Trimble; 2nd wife, the former Alice Olene Brant; grandson Travis Emerson Greer; brothers: William and Owen’s twin Oscar Preston. Survived by his daughter Linda, married to David D. Sines, Sr., Oakland, MD; grandson Jason (Jessica) Greer; step grandson David (Becky) Sines, Jr., step granddaughter Rebecca (Brent) Stemple; 10 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter about to arrive; brothers: John “Hack” Preston, Frostburg, and James Preston and wife Betty, Oakland, MD; and sister Eleanor Wiebrecht and husband Jim, Frostburg, MD. He was a graduate of Bethany Seminary of Chicago, Illinois and was ordained in 1958. Owen was a US Army Korean War veteran. He was a retired Brethren minister, serving many churches in several states. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Randy Haulk officiating.
