Notes	MOUNT SAVAGE — Thomas David Kenney Sr., 82, passed away Dec. 27, 2009, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years and all of his children and grandchildren. Born April 13, 1927, in Westernport, he was the son of the late Thomas Wilson Kenney and Veronica (Stowell) Kenney. He is survived by his wife, Shirley C. (Rice) Kenney, a loving brother to Joan Carolan, Cumberland; Rose Marie Friend, LaVale; and Eugene Kenney and wife Carol, Mt. Piler, Va. Thomas was the father of five children, Linda Welsh and husband James, Cumberland, Thomas Kenney Jr., Cumberland, Dianna Kenney and life partner Deborah Tooley, Mount Savage, Joseph Kenney and wife Lisa, LaVale, Dawn Mellott and husband David, Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren, Jalin Daum and fiance Marshall Swick, Tyler Kenney and fiancee Savannah Hartsock, Amanda Mellott and fiance Sylvester Carmouche, Chad Kenney and girlfriend Misty Larue, Shane Tooley, Jesse Kenney and girlfriend Jessica Caswall, Cody Kenney, Dane Mellott and girlfriend Angeles Dixon, Desiree Tooley and Brandon Kenney; great-grandchildren, Austin, Leia and Lacey Swick and Adaya Carmouche. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was a sergeant of USMC who survived in World War II and the Korean War. He retired from Parts Associated of Cleveland, Ohio. Thomas was a drill instructor of the Mount Savage V.F.W. marching drill team and Mount Savage Volunteer Fire Company marching drill team. First place winners in each parade they participated in. He was an active member of the Mount Savage Historical Society. He enjoyed growing and selling plants for the plant sale and doing many special wood crafts including banks, bird houses, etc. for the Mount Savage Historical Society. Thomas was also a member of the Old Rail Post 6025 V.F.W. in Mount Savage. A special thanks to Dr. Shin, doctors and staff of WMRMC. Also, to those from Home Care, Sheri, Holly and Mike. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Father Bernard Finerty, O.F.M. Cap., officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Old Rail Post 6025 after the funeral service. Interment will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap. Contributions may be made to St. Patricks Catholic Church in Mount Savage, St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cumberland, and the Mount Savage Historical Society.
