- LONACONING — Mrs. Alice M. Humes, 74, of Front Street, died yesterday, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. Born in Lonaconing, she was a daughter of the late Ellsworth and Margaret (Teasdale) Crowe. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Chureh and the sodality; Royal Neighbors of Cumberland; a charter member of WOM, Eagles Lodge, Frostburg; a member of Republican Club of Lonaconing, and Degree of Pocahontas, Westernport. Surviving are her husband, Nelson Humes; a sister, Mrs. Wilbert McCormick here; two brothers, Emil Crowe, here, and Paul Crowe, Bellaire, Ohio. The body is at the Eichhorn Funeral Home where friends will be received from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. The rosary will be recited there tomorrow at 5 p.m. Requiem mass will be celebrated Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Church and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Alice Mahala CROWE and Nelson HUMES were married in Apr 1929 in Baltimore, Baltimore Co., Maryland. Announcement has been made of the wedding in Baltimore, several days ago, of Nelson Humes and Mrs. Alice Andrews, both of this place. Mr. Humes' first wife died several months ago as did the first husband of the bride, whose maiden name was Crowe. They will make their home here where Humes is employed at the Utility Glass Works. Nelson HUMES died after 1986 in Florida. Nelson moved to Moosehead, FL, to the LOO Moose Home for the Elderly in 1975. He was mentioned as living in Florida in an obit for his brother in 1986.
