- William Augusta DeVore, 87, of Ellerslie, died yesterday at Sacred Heart Hospital where he had been a patient 10 days. Born in Ellerslie, he was a son of the late John T. and Barbara (Witt) DeVore. He was a retired Pennsylvania Railroad hostler and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers, Ellerslie EUB Church, and POSA, Ellerslie. Surviving are four children, Robert E. DeVore, Corriganville; Albert R. DeVore, Wiley Ford; Mrs. Nellie Berthelson, Ellerslie, and Mrs. Harry Spies, Cumberland; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The body is at the Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, where friends will be received from 7 until 9 p.m. today and from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. tomorrow and Monday. It will be taken to Ellerslie EUB Church Tuesday at noon where friends will be received until time of services at 2 p.m. Rev. J. Howard Smith and Rev. Don Marple will officiate and interment will be in Porter Cemetery, near Ellerslie. POSA will hold a service at the funeral home Monday at 8 p.m. The Cumberland Evening Times, January 21, 1967
