  Notes	Mrs. Sophia P. Griffith, 93, 80 West Main Street, died last night in Cumberland Nursing Home where she was admitted November 1, 1973. Born in Eckhart, she was a daughter of the late Josiah J. and Elizabeth (Racc) Porter. Her husband, Herbert H. Griffith, preceded her in death. Mrs. Griffith was a graduate of the Maryland State Business College and later employed as secretary by a music publishing house in Pittsburgh. Later she became affiliated with a son, Gilbert H. Griffith, in the insurance business for 20 years. Mrs. Griffith was a member of Frostburg United Methodist Church, former member of the official board, a teacher of the Van Dyke Sunday School Class and a life member of McKinlcy Chapter 15, Order of Eastern Star. Surviving are two sons, Gilbert R. Griffith, at home; Herbert L. Griffith, Lansing, Mich.; a grandchild and five great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Cumberland Evening Times, May 7, 1976 Sophia PORTER and Herbert H. GRIFFITH were married on 23 Sep 1905 in Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland. Mr. Herbert Griffith and Miss Sophia Porter, both of Eckhart, Md., surprised their friends today by announcing they had been married since Sept. 23, 1905, more than a year ago. On the above named date they were married by the Rev. Mr. Barnes, of Centre Street M. E. church, Cumberland.
