- CUMBERLAND - Vera Louise McKenzie, 72, of 60 Allendale Avenue, La Vale, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 1991 at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born Oct. 9, 1918 in Berlin, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ralph S. and Alda (Brant) Stevanus. Mrs. McKenzie was a retired executive secretary with the Chessie Federal Credit Union in Cumberland. She was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church, La Vale; a volunteer at the Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice; a past president of the La Vale Century Club; and a member of the Garden Club of Cumberland. Her husband, Lawrence R. McKenzie Sr., died in 1985. Survivors include two sons, Ronald Reynolds, Bakersfield, Calif.; Lawrence R. McKenzie Jr., Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Carol Bone Hartman, Petersburg, W.Va.; one sister, Eleanor Weakley, Frederick; three grandchildren, David E. Bone Jr., Virginia Beach, Va.; Robin E. Bolding, Salisbury, Md.; Rodney D. Bone, Dover, Fla.; one great-grandchild, Allison Bone, Cumberland; and several nephews and nieces. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Virginia Avenue. Services will be conducted there Tuesday at 11 a.m. by Pastor Charles A. Erzkus. Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
