- Scott Edward Garlitz, 40, of Cumberland, MD, died Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at his residence. Born February 18, 1977, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of Carl W. and Lynda (Bartch) Garlitz, Sr. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Edward William Bartch and paternal grandparents, Roy and Teresa Garlitz, Sr. Scott was a construction worker and a member of Ridgeley V.F.W. and the Labor’s Union, Local 616. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and had a Heart of Gold and would help anyone when asked. His children were the love of his life. Along with his parents, he is also survived by one son, Zachary Scott Garlitz, Cumberland; two daughters, Alexis Renee Garlitz, Mt. Savage, MD; Ashley Elaine Garlitz, Frostburg, MD; three brothers, Carl W. Garlitz, Jr. and companion, Stephanie, Baltimore; William B. Garlitz and wife, Lorena, Oldtown, MD; Gregory W. Garlitz and companion, Kate, Cumberland; one granddaughter, Lilli Bollinger; maternal grandmother, Dolores (Tyson) Bartch; two nephews and one niece, Britton, Owen and Morgan Garlitz. Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, MD, on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Divine Mercy Parish, St. Ann Catholic Church, Grantsville, with the Rev.
