- Henry Smith Dead – He Was With the B & O R.R. for Many Years
Henry W. Smith, aged 66 years, died yesterday evening shortly after 6 o’clock at his home, 36 Davidson Street, this city. Mr. Smith had been ill for two years. He was a native of Baltimore, and for some years had been in the employ of the B & O R.R. as a skilled blacksmith. He is survived by his wife and the following children: William H. Smith, C.L. Smith, Mrs. May Elosser, and Mrs. Bertha McKenzie, of Cumberland, and Mrs. Jennie Norton, of Humbird, Pa. Mr. Smith was a member of the Independent Order of Mechanics. The deceased was with the B & O for 45 years. Mr. Smith was an exemplary citizen and was highly regarded by his neighbors to whom his death was a great regret. He contended valiantly against the encroachment of disease for a long period and he bore his suffering without murmur. The funeral of Mr. Smith will take place Friday afternoon at 3 P.M., with funeral services at vthe home. Interment will be made in Rose Hill Cemetery.
