- Mrs. Laura E. McKenzie, 82, of 2405 Lyndhurst Drive, Champaign, Illinois, formerly of Cumberland, died yesterday. Born June 18, 1898, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Emma (Kerns) Barnette. She was a retired registered nurse, a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Champaign, and a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women. She was preceded in death by her husband, Enoch McKenzie. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Patricia Woodley of Champaign; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Morris, of McLean, Va., and Mrs. Helen Spriggs of Jacksonville, Fla., and six grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Graveside services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Burial Park with the Rev. Msgr. David Dorsch.
