      Aaron's military record describes him as 5'5 1/4" tall; blue eyes; dark hair; dark complexion.
      Aaron entered the 114th Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry on October 07, 1862. He was transferred from Company F on November 27, 1862 to the 10th Company 1st Battallion, Veteran Reserve Corps, December 16,1863, thence to company K, 9th regiment, Veteran Reserve Corps, and discharged November 09, 1864 at Washington, D.C. on Surgeon's certificate of disability. Served with his best friend in the world, brother William. Aaron was devastated at the death in 1863 of his brother Wm. H. at the Arkansas Post where both were assigned.

      Because Aaron McKenzie was an indigent ex-union veteran, on March 26, 1898,the Vinton County Board of County Commissioners, in accordance with an act of the Ohio General Assembly, voted to pay for his coffin and burial.
      According to the official record he was buried at St. Mary's Cemetery, Wilksville Township, Vinton Co, OH.

      Aaron's Grandfather Henry Mattingly served gallantly in the American Rev. War.

      Aaron's, military record describes him as 5' 5 1/4" tall; blue eyes; dark hair; dark complection.

      Aaron entered the 114th Regiment Ohio volunteer infantry on October 07, 1862. He and his brother William were very close, his brother was killed in the war at the Arkansas Post, Arkansas.

Edwards Administrator of said Estate, well and truly to appraise all the Personal Estate and Effects of the deceased, which shall be presented to you by said Administrator; and also to (appraise upon actual view, the Real Estate described in Schedule G and) perform all other duties required by Law of you in the premises as Appraisers.       We, the undersigned appraisers, do on our oaths, and upon actual view, appraise the real estate of said decedent, hereinafter described, as follows, to-wit:

      Ten acres in the southwest corner of the east one half of the northeast quarter of Section Sixteen (16), Range 16, Township 8, except one acre off the east end thereof sold on April 3", 1895 to one Sylvester McKinzie and bounded and described as follows to wit: commencing at a corner stone on the half section line and running 24 rods to the center of the Big road leading from Wilkesville to Hawks Station thence south 10 rods to the center of road leading from Wilkesville to Jackson and thence west with road 25 rods to a stake thence north 8 rods to place of beginning, as recorded in Volume 33 at Page 623 of records of deed for Vinton County, Ohio, and containing nine (9) acres more or less.
      Said lands being a part of the East half of the south east quarter of Section (16), Township 8, Range 16, in Vinton County containing ten acres more or less said lands laying north of the road leading from Wilkesville to Jackson and west of the road leading from Wilkesville to Hawks Station except one acre off the east end sold to Sylvester McKinzie, at one hundred and five dollars.

      The Plaintiff represents that he is the duly appointed and qualified Administrator of the Estate of Aaron McKinzie late of Vinton County, Ohio, deceased; that valid debts of the decedent amounting to Thrity Eight and 64/100 Dollars have already been presented to him for payment, (a schedule of which debts is hereto attached, marked exhibit A) that the costs of administration will amount to about Thirty Five Dollars, and that the total value of the personal estate and effects of said decedent is but One Hundred and Five Dollars, being wholly insufficient to pay the debts and costs aforesaid. The Plaintiff further represents that said Aaron McKinzie died seized in fee simple of the following described real estate, situate in the County of Vinton and State of Ohio, to wit:

      Said lands being a part of the east half of the south east quarter of Section Sixteen (16) Township Eight (8) Range Sixteen (16) in Vinton County containing ten acres more or less, said lands laying north of the road leading from Wilkesville to Jackson and west of the road leading from Wilkesville to Hawks Station, except one acre off the east end sold to Sylvester McKinzie.

      Plaintiff represents that said real estate was appraised in accordance with the order of the Probate Court of Vinton County, Ohio, by the appraisers of the personal estate of said decedent and that the amount of said appraisement is One Hundred and Five Dollars; that the defendants Margaret Thacker, Mary Freeman, Josephine Thacker, Jane Donahue, George McKinzie, Sylvester McKinzie, Joseph McKinzie, Early Doolittle, Micheal McKinzie, Emma McKinzie, Clarence McKinzie and ________ McKinzie the only heirs at law of said decedent, having the next estate of inheritance from said Aaron McKinzie deceased, in said premises, that the Defendants Early Doolittle son of Christina Doolittle deceased is a minor son 14 years of age, that Michael McKinzie and Emma McKinzie heirs of William McKinzie deceased are minors more than 14 years of age, and that Clarence McKinzie and ________ McKinzie heirs of said William McKinzie deceased are minors under 14 years of age, and that your petitioner may be authorized and ordered sell said real estate according to the statute in such case made and provided, and for all other proper orders and relief in the premises.

A. Edwards Administrator of the Estate of Aaron McKinzie deceased, in the Probate Court of said Vinton County, Ohio, and that unless they answer by the 20th day of January, A. D. 1900, the petition of the said Plaintiff for the sale of the real estate of the estate of said decedent, therein described, for the payment of debts of said estate, against them, filed in said Court, such petition will be taken as true, and judgement rendered accordingly.

      It further being made to appear to this Court that it would be in the best intrests of said estate to sell said premises at private sale; it is therefore ordered and adjudged by this Court that an order of sale issue out of this Court directing Hiram Thacker, Administrator de bonis non herein, to sell said real estate described in the petition herein at not less than the appraised value thereof and upon the following terms to wit: Cash on day of sale.
