"THOS. P. TIPSWARD" (sic)
Succumbs Suddendly Tuesday Afternoon With Probable Apoplexy. Funeral On Thursday Morning. Obituary Next Week.
"Thomas Pickett Tipsward (sic), a highly respected citizen living for many years about five miles southwest of here, died quite suddenly Tuesday afternoon of probable apoplexy of the heart. He was stung by a bee Sunday, and this had caused him a bit of trouble causing his throat to swell, and gradually became worse. Tuesday afternoon on going to his bed to lay down for a rest he suddenly toppled over, and his wife, thinking he had fainted, hurriedly summoned Dr. E. W. Brooks by telephone but when the Doctor arrived Mr. Tipsward (sic) was dead."
"The coroner was notified at Vandalia and Wednesday morning held an inquest, and Thursday he was laid to rest in the Tipsward (sic) graveyard near here. Undertaker W. S. Hancock had charge of the funeral. Obituary promised next week."
