She died on 1 Sep 2001 at the age of 59 in Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland. MIDLAND -- Joan Thomas Crowe, 59, of O'Mara Avenue, Midland, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born at Gorman, Md., Aug. 27, 1942, a daughter of the late Samuel Jackson Thomas and Burnice (Baer) Thomas. She was a supervisor at Flushing Shirt Factory, Grantsville, for 37 years. She was an avid gardener who loved her flowers and especially loved her grandchildren. She was Catholic by faith. A special thanks to her favorite nurse, Claudine Turner and all the stall on 4 North at Sacred Heart Hospital. Surviving are her husband, Donald Gerard Crowe; two daughters, Phyllis A. Wamsley, Midland, Patricia Fiorita, Frostburg; one son, Ronald Weimer, Clarysville; one step-daughter, Denise Crowe, Frostburg; seven grandchildren, Ashley Fiorita, Lynsy Wamsley, Anthony Fiorita, Cody Weimer, Rusty Rafferty, Kaitlynn Weimer, Wesley Wamsley; twin sister, Jean Johnson, Oakland; two brothers, Brison (Rusty) Thomas, McHenry, Samuel J. Thomas III, Accident; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, with Sister Marietta Culhane O.S.F. Pastoral Life Director of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lonaconing. At her request her body was cremated. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to service.
