December 19, 2001, Cumberland Times-News - CUMBERLAND -- Daniel J. Bridges, 50, of Cumberland, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at South Charles Street, Baltimore. Born on Feb. 28, 1951, in Cumberland, he was the son of Paul O. Bridges, Cumberland, and the late Margaret Ellen (Carter) Bridges. He was also preceded in death by one brother, James Thomas Bridges. Mr. Bridges was retired from the U.S. Army and he had also served in the U.S. Navy. He was Catholic by faith and a member of the Cumberland VFW, and the American Legion. In addition to his father, surviving are three sisters, Betty L. Kendall and husband Richard, Cumberland, Kathryn J. Yeager, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Thomasine Ann Butler and husband Charles, Cumberland; 10 nieces and nephews; three great-nephews; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted at the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone, Friday at 12:30 p.m. with the Father Milton A. Hipsley officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard. He was buried on 21 Dec 2001 in Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap, Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland.
