June was born in Cumberland, MD on June 24, 1922 to Frank and Edna Jones Himmler. Cumberland was always her favorite place where she also met her life partner and husband of 66 years, Charles (Kayo) Butts. June was of Methodist faith. A devoted wife and mother, June supported Kayo through years of assignments with the U.S. Navy, stationed in US and overseas, raising her children and also managing a career. She retired from Swindel-Powell ( Main St. location) in 1980, working as a secretary to the owners for 18 years. Co-workers became June's extended family, many staying in touch with her in recent years. June enjoyed an adventurous life; the excitement always overrode any fear and she reached for every opportunity before her. She loved traveling, music, reading and spending time with her canine friends. She was a remarkable storyteller, delighting family and friends with stories of the old days. June treasured a very close relationship with her sister Deanie and her family, always enjoying visits to Delaware throughout her life. Despite life's challenges, June maintained her independence to the end, taking care of her household and her husband. June's family was always first - she did the worrying for all and wouldn't hesitate to let any of them know what they should or should not do at any given time. Her children she praised, always sacrificing everything for them and her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, June was predeceased by her parents and beloved nephew, David Lee Brown. She is survived by her children, Lloyd ( Joyce) Butts, Deana (Patrick) Goodbread; grandchildren, Christie (Shawn) Page, Michelle (Steve) Taylor, Kelly (Mark) Horn; great grandchildren, Cody and Carlee Taylor, Pierce and Brayden Page, Alexis, Riley and Melanie Horn.
