      FROSTBURG - Paul Lavin, 70, of Braddock Apartments, with his loving family at his side, Paul Lavin was called home by the Lord on Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at Sacred Heart Hospital. He has rejoined his loving wife, Jeraldine, on their 44th wedding anniversary. Born Dec. 24, 1931, in Loartown, he was the son of the late George Vincent and Anna Aurella (Wampler) Lavin. Mr. Lavin was a graduate of Beall High School, Class of 1950. He was retired from Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, and the American Legion. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a bomb sight mechanic during the Korean Conflict. He was a volunteer at the Cumberland V.A. Clinic. Surviving are his daughter, Jacqueline G. Skidmore and husband Thomas E., Piney Mountain Road, Eckhart; three grandsons, Thomas P., Joshua D., and John M. Skidmore; two brothers, Dennis M. Lavin, Wiley Ford, W.Va., and Wayne F. Lavin and wife Lou Ann, Frostburg; three sisters, Doris A. Brewer and husband George B., Fort Worth, Texas, Mary Cleo Barnes, Cumberland, and Margaret Elaine Maw, Rockland, Mass.; a special brother-in-law, Lane Campbell; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Christian Wake Service will be held at 8:30 p.m. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Saturday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Father William E. Moody as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be accorded by American Legion Farrady Post 24. Thomas D. Skidmore will play taps. Pallbearers will be Thomas E. Skidmore, Thomas P. Skidmore, Joshua Skidmore, Dennis Lavin, Lane Campbell, and Craig Robertson. Honorary pallbearer will be John Skidmore. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Michael's School, 56 E. Main St., Frostburg, MD 21532.
