- James Henry Lavin, 55, of Oldtown, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends. Born Feb. 26, 1961, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Helen Lavin Albright and the late Leo Lavin Sr. Surviving are his wife, Debbie; and sons, Timothy and Joshua. He is also survived by three brothers, Leo Lavin and wife, Ramona, of Oldtown, Harold Lavin and wife, Penny, of Oldtown, and John Lavin and wife, Norma, of Cumberland; six sisters, Katherine Forbeck of Cumberland, Evelyn Crosswhite and husband, Grover of Statesville, N.C., Doris Liller of Oldtown, Faith Thompson and husband, Ron, of Morganton, N.C., Martha Hoover of Cumberland and Jean Gensler of Cumberland; and many nephews and nieces. Family and friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland. on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at 11 a.m. with viewing one hour prior. Pallbearers will be Tim Lavin, Clyde Noland, Leo Lavin Jr., Layton Stott, George Albright, and Alvin Boggs. Burial will take place at Oldtown Methodist Cemetery.
